The others ahead of him are 3-4 pass rushers.

Cj Mosley

Bobby wagner

Myles jack

Deion jones

All make over 14.25m per season

Then Shaq Thompson at 13

Jaylon smith at 12.75

Luke kuechly at 12.35

That's the top list of ILB pay in the nfl. Shaq is 5th and luke is 7th

Maybe because he wants the 3-4 pass rush scheme because analytics show it's best base defense.

Not trying to be an ass here, but can you link these “analytics” and also show me where an undersized hybrid linebacker fits into that base defense?

I was being snarky. Hes giving scott Turner a shot to be the oc and we dont have a head coach. I firmly believe the 3-4 move was him and Ron didn't want to do it.

Shaq leads this list in tackles for a loss at 9.

Shaq’s a playmaker who is just starting to get his feet wet.

Then why pay him as a ILB? Why pay him now at all. I'm guessing offensive coach and a DC who fits the players.

I don't know. I'm going to go with Igo's take in it as a morale move for the players. Sense of normalcy for the guys. He was probably going to be getting one anyways. If nothing else it kind of forces the next guy to make use of untapped talent

Keeping Luke in a 3-4 system would be an absolute dumbass decision.

Systems not the problem

We could Litterally move back to a 4-3 TOMORROW and he'll look the same.

When your interior DL is just a revolving door for OL to go through these are the results

People litterally are so frustrated with this defense they automatically jump to the thing that changed (the scheme)  without digging and looking at the real problem.

He11, use the GB game for an example, where Jimmy Fugging Graham took Butler out of the play 1on1 on a block leading to the OT going straight shot Luke untouched.

When you consider we could have gotten a 3rd round compensation pick for letting him walk, this deals becomes even worse

Think about it this way

Would you rather have

1- Shaq Thompson, our ILB2

or

2- A 3rd round pick, AND 15 million dollars we could spend on an elite offensive tackle, pash rusher, or other impact position

I have no idea what Hurney was thinking
