I also have to wonder what Luke’s long term future is here. Is Luke still here in 4 years? He could retire and having Shaq would help ease that transition.

He's always been more highly regarded by many here and national media than I ever viewed him, but I definitely have noticed him making a lot more plays this year.  I wanted to keep him based off of that...  but, whew...  this price is kind of steep.

Man did we just make the biggest mistake.  We got 4 more years of a LB you can run but is one of the reason we can not make a tackle when it counts the most.  How many time have we watch this year he has been out of position of failed to wrap up, or failed to cover the running back or slot WR.  I am just glad it is not my money.  54 million....man we overpaid.

I also think it's valid that this guy was gonna get paid a huge amount in FA based solely off his value as a coverage guy so y'all need to be mature about this and calm down. 

I mean, I think RBs are mostly replaceable but I don't foresee myself being mad when we give McCaffrey the Zeke deal this offseason.

Shaq is a good player but how do they justify re-signing players right now when they don’t know who the coach will be or what defensive scheme will be run?

He's definitely worth 7-8 million per year. It’s silly to pretend otherwise. If he plays like an elite LB and hits all of his incentives, then he’ll have been worth those too. People just want something silly to freak out about.

It does seem high. He isn't bad, I'd like more, but I don't see him as a weakness.

If he performs to his ability the deal might look better in a couple of years. Especially with a new CBA coming.

22nd ranked defense on a 5 win team coming off 2 losses in 3 weeks to 2 win teams. I hope it works out, not sure doubling down on defense after we've been a defensive team for the last 2 decades is the best move with so much time and needs ahead.
