David Tepper was famously known for only hiring Ivy League graduates at Appaloosa Management

This kind of implies he would be the only really bad option

Not what I meant.

Garrett is Ivy League.

Didn't know Stefanski was before this thread.

So if Tepper is determined to hire an Ivy guy, he doesn't have a lot of choices... That's all.

Appreciate the thread in that I learned a lot about Stefanski.  I don't generally know much about various coaching candidates except the few who have been HC already (Garrett, McCarthy...). So I don't have a lot of opinions. But I do not think Garrett is an upgrade. Do not want!

Yeah I know, I was kind of just using your post as a jumping off point to spout off about dumb hiring practices, sorry about that, I know you weren’t implying anyone else would be fine.

Im not really sure how anyone would arrive at the conclusion Garret would be an upgrade but apparently somebody with a job and a keyboard thinks so.

says the guy who deliberately uses over complex descriptive words and then when someone points it out is either condescending or acts like he doesn’t know what their talking about because you’re just hipster, artistic, edgy and smarter than everyone else amiright

seriously you’re the guy that annoys everyone because you’re opening your mouth about poo that doesn’t concern you but you’re too stupid to realize or get humble about it because no one has broken your front teeth yet for saying something really fuging stupid most people learn to keep to themselves

but then again I can’t see you hanging around or tolerating people that are that much different than you

sad you grew up without that learning experience you clearly need snowflake

It's his epistemology

Yeah Stefanski's father is Ed Stefanski, who was general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers, and also went to Penn

By the way thanks for starting this thread. Although it completely fails to mention Cam Newton, Kyle Allen or the heady fragrance of dead horse meat, I’m enjoying it thoroughly and appreciate the insight into a candidate the talking heads aren’t talking about.

Ivy league are smart tho

Or at least have the reputation of being, as our friend 1in10 has pointed out.

But again, it's not about the school Stefanski went to. He's a candidate because he's showing it on the field. That, plus he embraces the analytics tools.

Now, as I was talking about with someone else on here, he does have a couple of things working against him.

The first and primary one is relative inexperience. He's been an OC for less than two years. Both Josh McDaniels and Greg Roman have been OCs for way longer, and have very successful track records they can point to as well.

The second is connection. Since we now know that Tepper is connected to the Kraft family, that potentially gives Josh McDaniels an inside advantage. And Greg Roman? It's reasonable to expect that Marty Hurney will favor him because they worked together on the Panthers, albeit for a brief period.

All in all, it's a bit of an uphill climb. But could he still get the job? Absolutely he could. If he comes in for an interview and nails it, he'll have as good a shot as anybody.

He'll have to answer more complex questions than "where did you go to college" for sure. But if he answers them well, he's got as good a shot as anybody.

I have been around enough dumb people in my life and I've seen Gronk talk plenty of times. Pretty high chance he is pretty dumb.

Given your system of evaluation of intellect based on "talk" how would you compare Cam and Gronk as far as being "dumb"?  (or not)
