David Tepper was famously known for only hiring Ivy League graduates at Appaloosa Management

Regarding the original topic, I don't think that Tepper hiring Ivy leaguers for his firm means he would hire an Ivy League head coach.  I have worked with or for financial institutions for the last 25 years, and a lot of it is reputation.  They hire some of those guys for reputation purposes.  They gladly report that hey, 90% of our fund managers graduated from Ivy league institutions.  Also because many of the hiring managers are Ivy Leaguers, and they hire people like themselves.  Even on the IT side, they paid for us to get mostly useless certifications just so they could say all their engineers were certified.

I don't thing he is as concerned about hiring Ivy Leaguers to improve the reputation of his football team.  That being said, the Viking guy might be the best option.

I have been around enough dumb people in my life and I've seen Gronk talk plenty of times. Pretty high chance he is pretty dumb.

people say he's smart in real life.   i find it hard to believe too, but maybe he's smart enough to play a lovable dumb jock.

Possibly. I have run across some extremely dumb sounding people that were actually fairly intelligent. But, he definitely masks the intelligence well.

Umm did you write that or some uninformed journalist? 1400 for ivy league... he was the slow person in class.

For non legacy Ivy Leaguers. Don’t kid yourself Ivy League schools have legacy students who are average at best but daddy regularly writes checks so they get in too. If you need an example look no further than Dubbya.

I dont think we should automatically assume it will be an offensive coach. These OC getting a lot of mention are in many cases coming from teams with defensive head coaches. It would be an interesting change for the Panthers.

Nothing prevents a defensive head coach from having a brilliant OC.

So we should assume a defensive coach will be a candidate in reality and nobody has mentioned a single one that I know of. It makes me question how much these sources put in to this.

Just as long as it's not Jason Garrett!

This kind of implies he would be the only really bad option, and I think there are a bountiful harvest of bad options available.  Tepper could have his pick of any number of candidates likely to peak out at 9-7, it would just depend on what flavor of mediocre he wants.

Does he favor retreads who get hired for seemingly no reason other than they have done it before without actually peeing in public on the sideline?

Or does he prefer the distinct ouvre of college coaches who's success relies rather obviously on convincing gullible and emotional 18 year olds to attend his program and pound markedly less athletically gifted young men into the turf for four years?

Maybe he'd like to roll the dice on a fellow who's been a cordinator for a decade but last season his unit looked awesome so obviously any team he coached would look the same in perputuity?

So many very bad but seemingly popular options. It's a good thing the people who make hiring decisions at the NFL level aren't meek and unimaginative, given to doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Yeah Stefanski's father is Ed Stefanski, who was general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers, and also went to Penn

Using this logic, our next quarterback is Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Quick Tip: Football ain't business, at least not on the field.

Stefanski may well be our next head coach, but if he is it'll have nothing to do with where he went to college.

Ivy league are smart tho
