Tepper if you do snoop this board, your thoughts on hurney are wrong

The past is the past. The value in Hurney is what he will do. Based upon his last couple of drafts, relative to most GM's, I'm not mad at him. I get what Tepper is saying.

That being said, if Tepper fires Hurney today, I wouldn't be shocked. I think he'll give Hurney cracks at doing his thing until Hurney fails this second time around, and--like it or not--the failure of the team during the last couple of years had more to do with injuries to Cam and (IMO) the coaches not putting players in the best position to succeed.

I don't hate Hurney like some of you, and I still find his reemergence and recent body of work very fascinating and highly entertaining.

No. You were trying to give Hurney credit for any success after he was gone. And it didn’t go your way at all.

what? it did go my way because he built most of the core that had the success, showing that he is atleast a good drafter even if you dont want to admit it. god you're one of those peopel who strokes their own ego because they can win an online forum debate lmao,  which you didnt even win. you're like the italians perading around through some small egyptian towned they sacked during ww2 proclaiming a new roman empire while failing to realize that the egyptians had no troops stationed there

Well. Most of your list didn’t apply. It was easily shown that DG built the majority of those teams(with the same players Hurney couldn’t/ and still hasn’t won anything with.)

What else do you want? Seven trying to make up rules S you went along didn’t help.

Sorry if you don’t like people telling you that you are wrong. Too bad. Lifetime hard. You will find this out after puberty. Don’t banks about Italians. Tell me exactly what I was right about and We can go from there.....Again.

the egotism is something else, i can smell the cheeto crust lmao. you never really directly addressed any of my points, you just danced around them and twisted my words into stuff i didnt mean. i said that hurney was a good drafter and that most of the core in our peak (2013-2015) was built by hurney, that is TRUE. the examples you brought up that gettleman "built" were all below average aspects of the team. did he do decent given the cap situation? sure he did. i didnt say he didnt. what i did say is that hurney was a good talent evaluator, which he is. i wasnt making up rules, i was going off of the OPs criteria of our PEAK THIS DECADE, which was from 2013-2015. that isnt a "made up rule" as you tried to frame it, that's you reaching for somethign to call me out on. again, i acknolwedged hurney was a bad cap manager, but i said that he was a good talent evaulator, and that he drafted most of the core that this team peaked with. that is objectively TRUE, therefore i am right.

So, the OL that was ranked #2 that year. They were below average. Sure....It’s my ego...LOL The same OL that Hurney didn’t even try and improve from 2009-12. Amini was our only pick in top 5 rounds of 4 drafts.

Or Should we use YOuR OWN WORDS!!!! Was that DL that you just called below average, the reason you gave for the secondary xx Lind well. Zoo which is it today. Or do you need a L.J. Ute to get your BS together? Because it seems like you do. I CNt wait for tomorrow’s new rules.

i dont think ive ever seen someone on an internet forum as fuging retarded as you are and i used to browse 4chan actively holy poo LMAO. i dont see how its so difficult for you to proccess that im saying hurney was a good talent evalualtor, and that i disagreed with the op in that ONE REGARD because the man is a good fuging scout and drafter. you can compare his drafts with anyone in the leagues and they stand out. i NEVER said he was good with cap space, i NEVER said he was a good GM, i NEVER acted like he was some fantastic being. i said that he was a good talent evaulator and that he built most of our core in our best years, he drafted the guys on the team. are you too stupid to realize what im saying? but yeah dude im making up rules based on what the OP said, i sure am spewing fallacies or whatever you're trying to say. and i dont knwow here you got they were #2 from, that didnt look like the #2 line in the SB, or when cam constatnly had to break out of DEs because he was being sacked.

Of course not.  Because Im Not ignorant Enough to believe your hypocrisy.i questioned ONE thing and you want some overall feeling to erase you double-talking. Make it easier. Just say everything Hurney did was good. and everything DG did was below average. Save time if you are going to end up there

So PFF(can’t use one of us can we) rated them 2nd and they had a bad game against a DEF that hit Brady 20 times the week before. But sure.

AND I assume you want to forget the part about the DL was stellar enough to make the secondary good, but then they weren’t. I do blame you. I would be ashamed as well.

i never said that everything hurney did was good and everything gettleman did was below average this is some next level mental gymnastics, also PFF is unreliable. also making it good doesnt mean that it is good, its a bunch of spare parts it wasnt really a good unit. im not responding after this because you're probably just trying to get responses and you're so thickskulled that you're quite difficult to talk to, but you should learn to stop twisting people's words in a feigned attempt to make you look right. it shows your insecurity.

Dude, you missed the boat on this one. Let's see a few of Hurney's picks you've forgotten, but we haven't: 2011-- Cam Newton; 2012-- Luke Kuechly; 2018-- DJ Moore, Donte Jackson, Ian Thomas, Jermaine "Onside Kick" Carter; 2019 -- Brian Burns, Dennis Daley. Just ones that are currently on the team and performing well for us.

You can also add in from the past: 2002: Julius Peppers, DeShaun Foster, Will Witherspoon; 2003 Jordan Gross; 2004: Chris Gamble, Travelle Wharton; 2005 Thomas Davis, Geoff Hangartner; 2006: DeAngelo Williams; 2007: Jon Beason, Ryan Kalil, Charles Johnson, Dante Rosario; 2008; Jonathan Stewart, Gary Barnidge, Geoff Schwartz; 2009 Captain Munnerlyn (this draft was a clinker); and 2010 was, well, everyone craps out now and then.

You also have to figure in that he was able to grab us numerous high need free agents for the 3-4 realignment this past off season with big names like Gerald McCoy and Bruce Irvin. He also brought Julius Peppers back in for a couple of victory laps around the stadium and mended fences for us with Agent89.

So, what have you done for the team lately?

It’s crazy that with all of his “success” not one NFL owner thought enough of him to bring him in for an interview.. except of course for his good friend JR who had fired him once already for being an absolute disaster.

But you go ahead and keep trying to sell Hurney

No The hypocrisy is calling a unit “phenomenal” and on the next page calling them “below average” or whatever suits your agenda.

Two- thirds of that team was assembled by DG. That’s FACT. You made claims there wasn’t even a DEF player from him. Only 7starters on offense and defense. Anything else you want to lie about 2015, we can talk. But try and be more prepared. You’re making that “new” alt look bad.

you're so full of poo its hilarious, first off when did i say that? either you took something the wrong way or you're intentionally trying to stretch it to fit your mental gymnastics. i never said that he didnt have a defensive player on the team. you're making stuff up to fit your pathetic attempt at making me look bad. i even said that star and short were both gettleman  earlier in the post. thompson was also gettleman, the entire secondary besides norman was gettleman. a lot of that deep defensive line rotation was as well was gettleman. offensively ginn, cotchery, i believe brown, jared allen even though he was really washed up, tillman, etc. what im saying is that the  C O R E  of the 2015 team were mostly  brought in by hurney. gettleman essentially fixed all of hurneys fug ups, but that doesnt change that hurney still drafted a shitton of talented players. there were 10 probowlers on the 2015 team (a league high): thomas davis, ryan kalil, luke kuechly, cam newton,  josh norman, greg olsen, kawann short, jonathan stewart, mike tolbert, and trai turner.

the only players of that group not picked or acquired by hurney are turner and short. i didnt argue that hurney was a good cap manager, or a good gm in general. i am saying that hurney is good at drafting, which he statistically is. if you take a look at a volley of different articles on it, you can see this for yourself. an article wrote by bleacher report in 2013 (around when hurney was canned) which was studied in a timespan from 2002-2012 which is basically hurney's tenure here prior to the second chance showed that we were the 12th best drafting team in the league

Carolina Panthers

No team was a bigger surprise to us than the Panthers, who finished with 61 points, good for 12th overall.

They've drafted six Pro Bowl players and four All-Pro players. However, where they really made an impact is drafting starters. They have drafted 28 current starters in the league, including nine that were drafted between rounds five and seven.

  1. (https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1579957-who-is-the-best-drafting-team-in-the-nfl#slide1)

the last part is especially impressive, and based on that its a very fair statement on tepper to say he's a good talent evaluator. the man could draft, you can say he's a shitty gm and he is in a lot of ways (cap management in particular), but he could draft. the entire point of my post is that he could draft. he could scout, he could evaluate talent. after this if you continue to argue about different things after ive responded to you 3 times clarifiying that i meant he could DRAFT, not that he was the best teambuilder, cap manager or trader, itll show to me that you're more interested in playing mental gynamistics and making yourself look right than actually being right. and before you REEEE at me over muh criteria or whatever, the OP in the post said word for word;  "Just remember those were gettleman players when we peaked this decade."
"when we PEAKED this decade" aka between 2013-2015, or more specifically 2015. if you're trying to argue that the majority of the team were gettleman players, yeah but the majority of the team were a supporting cast to the core of probowlers, which all besides two of were drafted or brought in by hurndog. of course if you look at it from that view it'll be mostly gettleman players because this was two years into gettleman's tenure,  he wasn't gonna keep the same players the team had around. gms tend to try to leave a mark on the team.

also im not sure why you accused me of being an alt, i just came here to see how much a shitshow this place was since the entire team is melting down and it was definitely worth it. messing around with people who spend all day on a forum trying to make themselves look educated is a timehonored pasttime of mine, and you're fitting the bill quite nicely. so again,  argue my point. prove to me that hurney wasnt a good drafter. show me metrics or stats that show hurney wasnt a good talent evalulator and that he didnt pick most of this team's core in the 2010s. dont dance around the subject which is his drafting ability like you have been this entire time.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
