Give Us Will

I was sitting at my desk one Monday morning and found myself talking about football with 3 ladies. (Which I thought was kinda awesome.) Not only am I on the clock... but I'm talking about football, with women. And we won! Kyle Allen had, despite his 3 fumbles found a way not to cost us the game. In my Rivera speech: "Kyle did some very nice things out there." The most notable was dodging JJ. Watt to find a wide open Jairus Wright to set up the game winning field goal. Panther fans were pretty hype about that.

A few weeks go by and Kyle had not really cost us any games. I'm pretty stoked about his performance. But I noticed that their praise of Kyle also brought an equidistant condemnation of Cam. And the better Kyle did, the worst they talked about Cam. Of course it was all of the normal Cam- Slander. (The clothes. The confidence.) Of course I brought up all of the things that Cam does in the community, how respected he is in the league and how even though I dont care for his taste in clothing, it really has nothing to do with his ability to play football. Why did rooting for Kyle mean rooting against Cam?

Of course they stopped coming by my desk as Kyle's progress began to regress and the losses began to pile up.

I noticed that they didnt wanna talk about how Christian McMVP has cooled off or how Luke is not the same dominant player he once was. Because that didn't fit the narrative.

So I'm here for the shenanigans. I wont forget how this fanbase made Will Grier the anointed one. I wont forget how they were trying to run a guy out of town who put his body on the line week in and week out.

I've been a Panther fan since Jerry Richardson announced a team was coming to the Carolinas. Cam has been the best QB has ever had and has been treated like the worst.

But here's the thing. I want Will Grier to do well. Because I'm a Panther fan. I want him to succeed. Because I'm a Panther fan. THIS is the time to put him in and see what he has. Tepper. This is what the people want. And what they need. So Give us Will.

Because these people know a whole hell of alot about double standards. They dont know poo about football.

It makes little to no sense not to see what you have in a guy you felt strongly enough about to draft in the third round.

Give him a shot to get some run time with the ones. We know what we have in Kyle and that is a guy who can be a serviceable backup and maybe a bit more with elevated line play, but we have no idea what we have behind him.

If for nothing else, put Grier out there to show us what a great talent evaluator Marty Hurney really is.  :eyeroll:

Why would any Panther fan want to put Will Grier in after seeing him in Preseason? Just because Allen is lighting it up. Allen outplayed him in Preseason against relaxed defenses...

Give him some regular season experience and let us lose out for a better pick. Winning does nothing for us at this point.

I can understand that. But I think that Tepper wants to see what we can do and how we do it, so he can make evaluations on players and coaches.

There is absolutely no good reason to start Grier against the Falcons.  Our line is fuging awful and Grier hasn't had much practice with the 1s, if any, all year.

If we're going to make the change we need to do it heading into a week, and not the week we lose our HC.

Inwouldnt mind seeing some will greer, but i also think that our oline cant protect him. The worst thing you can do to a new qb is destroy his confidence behimd a bad oline.

If we do play greer, i think we need to pull him as soon as he starts getting sacked multiple times a game. Honestly, i think it would just be better to give him a chance to be the starter next year unless we somehow miraculously end up with burrow in the draft.

Only bad to mediocre quarterbacks are not confident enough to bounce back from having a bad line and getting sack.

People talk about David Carr, but he was never going to be good.

A top 15 QB will bounce back, and if he's not a top 15 QB, then we don't need him.

I somewhat agree. Some guys just have the balls to hang in there and .ake the throw as they are getting hit.

It is important that a new qb learns to trust his protection and keep his eyes down the field to make plays. I think if the line cant protect him he will start looking around the pocket for pressure which keeps his eyes off of his recievers. He needs to be taught correctly and hopefully not feel like he is about to be killed o  every snap and take his eyes off of his recievers.

I do think we will proba ly see hom before the season is over and i hope he has the fortitude to trust his guys. Say what you will about kyle, but kyle has excelled in this area. Hopefully will will be as good at that.
