Panthers likely targeting a college coach, my best guess

He's done a pretty decent job with this class but I wouldn't expect too much in the long term. Real football schools know that NC is a good place to recruit because no program in the state(save App. St.) can show any real sustained track record of success. That's why SEC schools are able to come in and land the top recruits in the state. Watch next year(2021 class) when NC is supposed to have one of the strongest classes in recent memory and watch how many football factory schools end up with NC kids.

That's why none of the in state schools will likely ever see the kind of success that those schools do, we don't spend unlimited resources on them nor have fan bases clamoring for results. It's a basketball state and it always will be.

Unfortunately, we are a bandwagon state. Period. If the football team starts winning the fans will pile in. Carolina will be in serious trouble in 8-10 years because both Roy and Mack will be gone. He also flipped my friends son, not a high recruit but he was going to state. That's a big deal, I even have a photo of him with Mack holding the National Championship. He just has a way of reaching kids, and making them believe.

Not sure it is so much bandwagon as just that basketball is really something you just grow up with in NC. It's a traditional basketball state and the in state schools have amassed 14 men's basketball national championships. That's why that tradition exists, because of the decades of success. Not to mention some of the non-championship winning colleges that have also had great basketball programs. We never had that in football. The periods of success have been fleeting.

I don't think Mack will prove to be the savoir that the UNC fans want him to be. Like I said, best case scenario he sets up the program for success in their next coaching hire and worst case he becomes a trip down memory lane that quickly devolves into some of the realizations that Texass ultimately had. I also don't think he is likely to be there in 5 years, given age and/or results. Time will tell though.

As for Roy, it will be interesting to see what direction they go when he retires. They could elevate an assistant(as they did when Dean retired) or spend tremendous resources on another big time basketball coach. I'm also curious to know when he wants to hang it up. At some level, I feel like there is going to be a reluctance on K or Roy's part to retire while the other is still trucking. I have no proof of that, just a feeling.

The odds are strong that nobody has yet mentioned the next coach's name.

Tepper said something about a tree and apples. Not sure of the direct quote but seems to me he just tipped his hand as to our next coach.

Apples.

Washington known as the Apple state.

Washington University coach that just stepped down.

Chris Peterson.

It's written in the tea leaves. Just wait for it to happen.

Dabo is a goddamn fuging moron and the biggest piece of poo in college football this side of nick saban

he has the best resources in the country, in part because he sucks so much evangelical cock. clemson's football program is drowning in jesus money and he is the primary reason why. they baptize clemson recruits and players at midfield in giant ice baths. its fuging weird

on top of that the economic boom that the greenville spartanburg area is experience as they have entered modernity has flowed almost exclusively into like crossfit gyms and the clemson football department. Clemson likely has top four football facilities in the country, up there with LSU, Oregon, and Alabama. (Also Arkansas' which Ryan Mallett famously claimed were nicer than the cincinnati bengals'). Players at Clemson get complimentary chef prepared meals with perfect macros. once they're done training in the best facilities money can buy, they ride their complimentary scooters over to their player exclusive relaxation facility, complete with on call masseuses, acupuncturists, video game arcades, and anything else you could conceivably think of some 19 year old wanting. poo, there's even a lazy river exclusive to the football players (and whatever girl they can sneak in though that's strictly forbidden and against the shining light of the lord wink wink)

Clemson essentially bribes their players, and yet dabo still has the audacity to claim he'll retire in disgust when players start collecting pay checks.

What about coaching? That thing that Dabo does none of? Clemson has the highest paid coordinators in the country. Jeff Scott made over a million dollars last year after bonuses. Brent Venabels made around 2.5 million to be defensive coordinator, making him one of the highest paid coaches in the country AS A COORDINATOR.

So yeah, that's not going to translate into the pros at all.

What about recruiting? That thing that took Dabo a fuging decade to get good at because the evangelicals kept him there? Well at this point it's become self sustaining. Players understand that they'll go to clemson, compete for a national championship, play a cupcake schedule, have on call blowjobs from asian masseuses (in a very christian way of course) and get drafted in the first. Dabo just shows up, screams about jesus for thirty minutes, then the recruit figures out where they'll get on the field fastest between OSU, Clemson, Alabama, and LSU.

None of this translates to the NFL. Players would fuging laugh at him there. He wouldn't be able to recruit players to sign with the Panthers. He wouldn't be able to scare them into complying since all the players have already made it and they would make more than him anyway. He can't talk to adults because he's an autistic jesus freak. And lets just say his politics are a little regressive. He threatened his football players with going to the white house with the understanding that if they said no they would never play. Notice that not a single player going to get drafted showed up to that pitiful fast food party? How it was just undersized white kids grabbing as many double cheese burgers as they could? Yeah those were the bums that are terrified of him and hope to one day take part in the victory formation. The dude is a nazi. And if you read that and you feel personally attacked good; fug you.

He would be the largest, most embarrassing failure in NFL history and he is everything that is wrong with college football.

In closing fug Dabo, fug Clemson, fug their fans, and fug every single poster on this board who waddles into every thread going "well why dont we just go get dabo" because you don't know fug about poo.

Image result for dabo swinney retarded

wow, i loved it

Tepper wants to win now and the best way is hire someone with NFL experience. I know he said it might take five years to build a consistent winner  but this is year 2 already and next year will be year 3. So the expectation is that we will be competitive in a year or two and consistently good in the next few years. At least that is how I read it. Doubt he wants to hire an unknown with little NFL experience. Use your analytics and see how many first year coaches have winning records in the NFL with or without NFL experience.

    • If my reply comes off argumentative, that is not my intention so please don’t take it as such.  You said one word, probably subconsciously, in your post that immediately disqualifies him from being a QB in the NFL. You actually said it twice. Kid. It’s exactly how you see him, and exactly how the rest of the entire NFL sees him as well.  Yes, he is a kid, he looks and acts like a kid and that exactly IS the problem. The NFL is for grown ass men. Period. Hell, our kicker looks like he collects ‘taxes’ as a side hustle. These are straight dudes. Men.  Nothing in his persona changed from last year to this.  Nothing in his physical stature. Nothing. He has shown 0 development. 0. And he disrespects the entire organization, talking video games and Netflix in the offseason. Bro. Really. My man Chuba is busting his ass to look good for his second contract. Set himself up for life. How many RBs make it to even sign contract #3? First 2 games he has to run in to a brick wall continuously because Netflix can’t even get it over the LOS.  He’s a kid who pulled off the biggest heist in world history. He looks happier on the sideline goofing around than he ever has looked on the field. It’s time to cut bait.
    • I hear you and I can imagine it's frustrating as a fan, but UNC-CH leaving the ACC would be throwing away over a century of history. It would really suck if y'all, or Clemson, or any of the other remaining charter members leave. I still think it sucks that Maryland left as well. Feels so wrong not having that rivalry anymore. Maryland fuging hated us and I loved it. Who's Maryland's rival now in the big 10? Rutgers? lol. Also, I think that the Heels are more likely to be Kentucky 2.0 than you are to get serious about football upon joining the SEC. Both UNC (and also Duke's) administrations seem very stuck in their ways with sticking to their ways and remaining basketball powerhouses. I do wish we could see NC teams actually competing in my favorite sport sometimes but alas. I personally value keeping our history intact over trying to become top flight CFB programs because nowadays it's just a pay to win sport anyways. Even if UNC-CH got serious I doubt they could compete with that Texas oil money, or that Oregon nike money, or that USC rich kid money. That's all top level college football really is anymore. You're either an established blue blood or you're willing to waste tons of money that could be spent on education rather than football.
    • Maybe a move to the SEC forces UNC to be more serious about football?   I mean we should be making noise in the weak ACC and we can't even do that. How is Duke better than UNC in football right now? It's honestly sad and pathetic.   It doesn't matter if we get another great QB as you said a QB doesn't mean you have a great roster. A QB can only do so much. We lack elite guys in the trenches. That's how you build a program. It starts up front.
