He got to keep his job probably 20 months longer than he should have. He should be grateful to have such an extended amount of time to prove he can do it.

new HCs always want their guy at QB.   Very few exceptions.  Basically HOF/Super Bowl winners. 

Cam coming off 2 injured seasons and unique because of his fullback rushing element. 

Pretty sure a new HC is going to want the time live or die with his dude.  Based off history.

If Tepper told him he was going to move on after the season, Ron may have elected to step down now and give some guys on his staff a chance to audition for future gigs.  Also gives Ron some time to reflect and collect his thoughts b4 the 2020 season.

Its probably more likely than your “threw him out with the trash take.”   
 

No one knows for sure, but things definitely could have come to a head and both sides decided it was best to part ways now.

For Tepper, it's a chance to evaluate other guys.  For Rivera, it's a chance to evaluate potential openings without the pressure of preparing for games.

I honestly think Tepper has respect for Rivera, but their methods are very different and it wasn't going to work long-term.

I do think Tepper gave Rivera a fair shake.  

It's time to move on for both parties.  Rivera will almost certainly get another head coaching job.  Tepper will get to pick his own guy.  Better for both.

I get what the OP is saying.  It is sort of a sad moment.  I know we're in the midst of an angry mob and everything.  I also think that ultimately deciding to move on from Rivera was the right move.  I'm not a fan of the timing of it, but I understand.

I think anytime you've watched a person for 9 years straight and have seen him around the community then it stings.  Sort of like a long relationship that just isn't working out anymore.  There are still memories and love for the person, but no one is happy.  

Time heals all wounds.  

I wish the best for Rivera.  He's a good guy.  I think people need to allow him some dignity. He didn't lack integrity.  If you want to be excited about the move and the future great.  Talk about that.  Don't trash the guy though.  He loved being in Carolina.

Sam Mills sounds like the businessman came out in Tepper today.  Surprised it didn't happen yesterday.  Think Tepper was just fed up and was making a statement to the players also.  Play your hearts out or I will send you off packing too.

Let's hope that was the mood and not to be the norm with this owner.
