Very valid point.

And salaries for WRs (top 10 league average: $16M) are twice what they are for RBs (top 10 league average $8M). And the RB salary number is all fugged up because the Cowboys are paying Zeke $15M a year and Gurley is close behind.

It’s a pretty safe bet you can start the discussion at 16/yr. Add Bell and David Johnson and the 5th year option wont be a bargain anyhow.

His salary is a bargain for starting QBs. He has one year remaining under contract, and a whole lot to prove to not only himself but a lot of people. Either he comes back next year and proves it, and everyone is happy. Or he doesn't, and everyone moves on.

His salary is bloated dead weight until he can prove himself, which won't be until training camp. You want to wait until after free agency and the draft just to see if he's healthy?

New head coach candidate: "What's the QB depth chart look like?"

Panther GM or VP or COO: "Cam Newton."

New head coach candidate: "Can he play, can he run, can he drop back, can he throw? Is he healthy?"

Panther GM or VP or COO: "We won't know for quite some time, but he's our guy."

New head coach candidate: "No, thanks."

To me, the team is in dire need of addressing the trenches. It won't matter who is behind the OL, the current protection is unacceptable. The DL has been a sieve against the run.

We are in a position where we can rebuild the lines and see whether or not Cam can be healthy and productive again. With the cap room we will have, the opportunity to build for the future as well as to win now is possible.

So I talk to Joe Marino a good bit believe it or not and he told me straight up that Bradberry will get around 15 million a year and Shaq will get around 11 million a year. Im not great with Cap and stuff, but I know we have a lot. Is this worth it for these two players? Also what do you think Hurney thinks of these guys?

I think it’s worth it for Thompson but a bit overpriced for Bradberry. If I had to pay one over the other though I’d go with Bradberry.
