"Be better" is slowly replacing "Keep Pounding" JFC

There are tons of poundings on game days, its just our opponets doing it. On the bright side, we are perfect for a KY sponsorship the rest of the year.  We have taken it up the gut so much i hear they may give our games more mature ratings.

Here's what he'd say:

"Can you explain how a team averaging 80 yards a game come into your stadium and runs for 248?"

RR: It’s football. It’s football. Remember there is 11 other guys on the other side of the lineup too.

"The Washington Redskins had not won in BOA for 21 years until yesterday. Thoughts?"

RR: We all seem to forget that they may struggle, but again, they are paid just like our players are paid. They go out, they play hard, they give it their best just like our guys went out and gave it their best and they fought to the very end.

Mention “gap discipline” and “missed opportunities” and you’ve hit the jackpot

He's the QB, that comes with the territory. It's the same way Newton was tied to 0-9 or whatever regardless of anything else. Guys were perfectly fine giving Kyle credit for our winning stretch. Now it's not his fault when we lose with the football in his hands? That's not the way it works.

It is amusing that the same people that refused to give Allen any credit for the wins place an inordinate of the blame on him for losses, and the same people giving him all the credit for his wins are making total excuses for the losses

Two years ago the pathetic 1-10 49ers started Jimmy Garropolo their last 5 games and won 5 games in a row. If Will Grier was able to do that and was the QB of the future I would be happy

Jimmy G was a huge trade acquisition ... Grier couldn't win the (backup) job in camp...

I would love for Grier to be our qb of the future, but I think playing him now lessens the chance of that.

Won’t know until we throw him into real live game action

sure, some players look a ton better in live games than in preseason or practice (even Allen is an example of this lol), but by all accounts, Grier still needs more time.  and on top of that, unless Grier blows the barn doors off, we won't have any idea what we have this year, simply because of how bad certain aspects of this offense are.

I actually watched the presser. He did mention potential opportunities but when directly asked about whether they would consider starting Grier rather than Allen right now responded "No, why would we?"

Here's what bugs me about this answer:

It implies that Rivera is unaware that the coaching staff has a greater knowledge of each player's capabilities from seeing them in practice than the general public does. Obviously when your current starting qb is playing poorly, anyone remotely familiar with football will know that fans will want to see what an unknown backup could do instead. His answer facetiously implies Ron doesn't already know all of this.

Yes Ron, we as fans don't get to see what you and the coaching staff get to see every day in practice, so we don't actually know if giving Grier a chance would be a good idea or a bad idea. All the question requires you to do in order to be candid and transparent at this point is to say something to the effect of "We don't think that would be in the young man or the team's best interests right now."

This answer would be fair and true and wouldn't be a load of bs that pretends not to know how fans think or that we don't have his insider knowledge.

Even if Grier does blow the barn doors off, that still doesn't answer whether he's a flash in the pan who would look far less impressive once teams had film on him. No matter what happens the rest of this season, quarterback as the most important position in the game will be question mark for us going into next season no matter what.

You can literally decipher which comments are Rivera's thoughts and which ones Tepper told to him in his ass-chewing last night.

The line about responsibility was a definite talking point in the meeting.  Also the "process being over".  Besides the "missed opportunities" that was the philosophy around here, the "process".  If that is over. IT is over.
