No decision on changes until after the season

I would hope that Ron and Marty have been told they will be let go but can save face by finishing out the season. No really point in parting with Ron at this point as there is no one on the team to groom.

Or maybe Tepper is actually waiting to evaluate the whole season and Ron will win a few meaningless games and save his job to do the same thing next year. If this is the case I can already hear the "Cam got hurt! We had a bunch of talent on IR" flying out of their mouths already

Rules prohibit you from contacting Saleh or any other currently employed coach regarding job opportunities until the season is over.

So it would be okay to contact him to see how he's doing? Maybe go for a beer? I gotcha, *wink

If you want to compete for a top candidate, you don’t show that you’re the type of owner that may publicly embarrass the coach with a mid season firing.

It's been 9 years. The only embarrassment is this travesty of a defense, the lack of being prepared, no adjustments, and some ridiculous unwavering loyalty to people who cant get the job done.

IMO, letting him go now shows you are serious about being a contender. This season is over. We've been embarrassed in our division. I dont think it's a snap judgement. It's been bad for a while. The next coach could benefit tremendously from seeing some tape of guys who cant see the field under Ron. It's time to start moving forward, even if Ron doesnt get to ride off into the sunset.

Seriously... Why do people want Saleh so bad? He has one good season and all of a sudden he is the best defensive guru in the league?? Let's pump the breaks on him until there is more tape on him.

Second, there is absolutely no reason to fire Rivera at this point now. We know the season is already done but a interim head coach will not make a difference.

Secondly, Fox was a DC who became an HC.

Then Ron.

And before it all Capers.

We've tried this three times now.

It's time to try an offensive guy.

Brett Jensen is still around?

He's filling in John Hancock's spot on WBT till they hire someone else or he just takes over. he isnt bad, but he isnt anywhere near John either.  I listened to John for years, easily my favorite talk show host of all time. Balanced show, didnt lean too far right or left and when he talked you felt like you were having a conversation with someone, not being talked to.

I agree. I think ri era could have been great 20 years ago. But the nfl has changed so much since then. It is an offensive league now and we have young talent on the offense (minus the oline) ready to be developed. Get an offensive coach and let him draft our future qb with our first round pick.

    • You all make some great points.  I love the OT Trapilo pick but it is a round too soon.  Tells me someone is doing their homework.  He is a solid pass blocking RT and we need pass blockers to keep Bryce nice. About S--I want an early S too, but Richardson was not bad when he played.  Most players improve the most between years 1 and 2.  There are some decent safeties in this draft later, so maybe I have been looking at the Corvettes in the showroom when I should have been kicking tires in the used SUV lot. Regardless, with Moton's knee concerns, age, contract, etc.  I really would like to see us draft a legit starting-caliber, second tier OT now.  I watched Trapoli at the Sr Bowl and he has really strong pass pro form.  33" arms (OK) and he is 6'8".  There are others I like as well: Cam Williams, Texas Donovan Jackson, Ohio St. Charles Grant, W&M Anthony Belton, NC State Emory Jones, LSU Our coaching staff just showed us how they can develop young players.  Wait until the third or fourth and get one of these guys.  Take a year to prepare them.  Sign BC to another 1-year contract for insurance.  If our OL coaches are an asset and they have a year to work with one of these OTs above, let them do their jobs. In that second round pick slot, maybe we can get that Safety--might have to move up a bit--I would not be surprised to see a draft day trade of Zavala.  If other teams were scouting us properly, they should have seen a potential starter buried on the depth chart.
