All true but a good short yardage back can still overcome bad blocking more often than he does, at least for a yard or two.

Like this is the elephant in the room. Bro’s a beast but the cost of our amazing hybrid weapon is that without Cam out there’s no one who can reliably pick up a yard when needed.

This is why I always got in heated debates with people who try to downplay Cam doing those one yard runs.  They are extremely difficult to do in the NFL.  "Yeah, Cam has a lot of rushing TD's but they were all from a yard out!!!!!! anyone can do that!!"  Rightttttt...thats why hardly any QB in the NFL runs the ball with a yard to go.  Fuggin morons.

I never accused CMC of being a goal line back.  I'm accusing you of nitpicking yet another generational talent on this team because this Staff is so mind blowingly stupid that they keep throwing CMC at the goal line like he's Cam.

Basically this... Generational is a term that doesn't apply here.

I haven't seen many people point out that part of the issue is that defenses know there's a 0% chance of a Kyle Allen sneak. It's not just unlikely, it literally won't happen because the team doesn't trust him to do something like that without fumbling. Most other QBs are at least threats to sneak it that defenses have to account for, but not Allen.

I am not even sure it is that as much as it is that we have zero hope of generating much push from that interior of the line. But, no, given Allen's ball security issues I would never call him on a sneak.

That's why it's also really stupid to blame CMC for not being able to get the ball in the end zone in some of these goal line situations. We have been trash in short yardage, red zone situations all year long. Maybe because we have a dumpster fire of an OL and a QB that is rated in the bottom two in the NFL.

Regardless of the line generating push. Often a good power runner masks the deficiencies. Cam has been our short yardage back for years so it was never as glaring as it is now. Admitting that a running back isnt the best at punching it in in a closed in environment doesn't mean he sucks. It just isnt his game. Most team have a guy they bring in in those situation.

Say the 49ers gash teams with Coleman up and down the field. But come goal line and Bredia or Morstat come in because they are more physical runners. Physicality isnt where CmC wins.. that is all. No lie in that. The bigger problem is ron and those who cant see that a bigger body is needed in those situations. Armah, whoever...

If we had prime Bettis is would still be a struggle to get these goal line TD's. When you don't have an OL that can generate push or hold blocks and you match that with a QB that is playing very poorly and struggles mightily under pressure....it makes for an easy team to defend when you get everyone packed in there.

We've tried running Armah in these situations before this year and it didn't work. It's not going to work because we are both painfully predictable and woefully incapable of executing well in these situations.

Cam makes these sort of scenarios extremely difficult for defenses because he has the ability to bruise you, jump over you, run around you, pass over you, etc. He makes these situations have so many different avenues to defend that even this dumpster fire of an OL is bailed out for being poo. Kyle doesn't do that. It's not his fault but we are never going to be an effective team in these scenarios with our current personnel. Not unless we get insanely creative and even in those scenarios, I don't think our line can hold up long enough, our WR's execute consistently enough, nor our QB make the correct decisions enough.

We just are not going to be good as a team in these scenarios this year.

We just need an offensive line that can get a yard.  I mean you can put a big bruiser back there and if the OL gets no push he ain't going nowhere either.
