In the final analysis, Hurney has been given more than ample opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities.

Rosters Hurney has assembled haven't resulted in a winning record since 2008.

In all the years Hurney has been GM, he's managed a total of three winning seasons.

Please, for the love of god, if you are a Panthers fan, stop defending this man's sub-standard performance.

Dude no one is winning anything with a backup qb playing 75% of the season.

You mean to say the employee who was a journalist and had absolutely zero scouting or managing experience, or knew wtf he was doing, that was fired for doing a shitty job and then miraculously rehired due to JR butthurt the replacement treated things as a business rather than family, somehow didn’t work out?

IM SHOCKED.

"The Panthers' first three picks in 2001 were linebacker Dan Morgan from Miami (Fla.), defensive tackle Kris Jenkins from Maryland and a wide receiver/kick returner from Utah by the name of Steve Smith. The oddity of the draft was that although it produced three of the best players in team history - a trio that would be key to Carolina's Super Bowl run two years later -

Although head coach George Seifert still had the final say in all personnel matters, virtually all of the planning and execution for the 2001 draft was done by director of football operations Marty Hurney and director of player personnel Jack Bushofsky."

Hurney is already gone.  It's not like he can do anything and it's 99.9% he's not coming back.  No point in making a statement firing when you know the coaching staff will all be gone.  Makes more sense to just let Rivera gracefully go tomorrow.
