So who runs the team if Ron is fired and I guarantee it will not be Norv. Norv would retire before taking over after his friend was fired.

I'm not so sure.  I mean would he want the job next year?  I'm nearly certain he would not, but merely to round out the last 5 games of the season, you never know. He could defer to his son Scott, but I doubt Norv just quits.

I just can’t see a guy that came out of retirement to work with his friend take over after his friend is fired. Plus Norv is 67 years old I believe and doesn’t need money

Its already draft season in my head. I'm just hoping we don't go 3-2 to finish the season and end 8-8. I always root for the win, but it is pretty obvious we are cleaning house after the season. The biggest question is what happens to Cam and this will play itself out in spring.

I'm for the full rebuild now.   We've been trying to extend this window for a while now.  Unlike the Saints who have been successfully extending their window, their front office has steadily been back filling their roster with young talent.  What Marty and Ron (Gettleman to an extent) has tried to do and failed miserable at.  Once Brees does retire, they will still be a contender.  This front office has failed to build with Cam and Luke.

What does firing Ron today if the Panthers lose accomplish? Coaching isn’t the only issue...we have lots of players not performing up to their contracts.

Let me explain it like this. Firing Rivera today would be the equivalent of drinking that powerful laxative the night before having a colonoscopy...you know sh!t is getting ready to hit the fan in the very near future.

Rivera and Hurney will be gone on Black Monday and the next GM/Coach will make the decision on resigning Cam, Bradberry,Shaq, etc.   Part of Tepper’s questioning will include whether to tear down or reload.  Despite the recent infatuation with college offenses, I still believe that the next coach comes from a defensive tree.

I'm over defensive minded HCs.  We've had one offensive minded HC in club history, George Seifert, and one crappy season got him fired...didn't even get through his initial contract.  While Beuerlein was at the helm for a couple of seasons it was nice to see 30+ points scored routinely.  A crappy rookie QB did Seifert in (Chris Weinke).

Seifert was a defensive coach too. He just happened to pick up a decent OC.

It was more than that, everybody hated Seifert for his attitude and his approach. He chose to cut Beuerlein for Weinke. That offensive coach you speak of got us to 31st in offense and probably like 60th in defense, it was so bad. Offensive coaches can be great but when defense wins championships, airing it out in 50-47 losses doesn’t do much for me.

    • If my reply comes off argumentative, that is not my intention so please don’t take it as such.  You said one word, probably subconsciously, in your post that immediately disqualifies him from being a QB in the NFL. You actually said it twice. Kid. It’s exactly how you see him, and exactly how the rest of the entire NFL sees him as well.  Yes, he is a kid, he looks and acts like a kid and that exactly IS the problem. The NFL is for grown ass men. Period. Hell, our kicker looks like he collects ‘taxes’ as a side hustle. These are straight dudes. Men.  Nothing in his persona changed from last year to this.  Nothing in his physical stature. Nothing. He has shown 0 development. 0. And he disrespects the entire organization, talking video games and Netflix in the offseason. Bro. Really. My man Chuba is busting his ass to look good for his second contract. Set himself up for life. How many RBs make it to even sign contract #3? First 2 games he has to run in to a brick wall continuously because Netflix can’t even get it over the LOS.  He’s a kid who pulled off the biggest heist in world history. He looks happier on the sideline goofing around than he ever has looked on the field. It’s time to cut bait.
    • I hear you and I can imagine it's frustrating as a fan, but UNC-CH leaving the ACC would be throwing away over a century of history. It would really suck if y'all, or Clemson, or any of the other remaining charter members leave. I still think it sucks that Maryland left as well. Feels so wrong not having that rivalry anymore. Maryland fuging hated us and I loved it. Who's Maryland's rival now in the big 10? Rutgers? lol. Also, I think that the Heels are more likely to be Kentucky 2.0 than you are to get serious about football upon joining the SEC. Both UNC (and also Duke's) administrations seem very stuck in their ways with sticking to their ways and remaining basketball powerhouses. I do wish we could see NC teams actually competing in my favorite sport sometimes but alas. I personally value keeping our history intact over trying to become top flight CFB programs because nowadays it's just a pay to win sport anyways. Even if UNC-CH got serious I doubt they could compete with that Texas oil money, or that Oregon nike money, or that USC rich kid money. That's all top level college football really is anymore. You're either an established blue blood or you're willing to waste tons of money that could be spent on education rather than football.
    • Maybe a move to the SEC forces UNC to be more serious about football?   I mean we should be making noise in the weak ACC and we can't even do that. How is Duke better than UNC in football right now? It's honestly sad and pathetic.   It doesn't matter if we get another great QB as you said a QB doesn't mean you have a great roster. A QB can only do so much. We lack elite guys in the trenches. That's how you build a program. It starts up front.
