Interesting Stat on DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel

I love these "Curtis is actually good and it's all Kyle Allen's fault threads". As though his stats were so much better with Cam. He's not a receiver. He's an exceptionally fast RB lining up at WR. By the time the huddle is willing to accept that he was actually way over drafted he will be long forgotten. Anyone who thinks this guy has a 1000 yard season in him is deluding themselves. Godwin, Juju, Kupp, Golladay all drafted after him.

Well I’m pretty sure he’s playing this year more. Literally every WR Cam has ever played with typically has a drop off when they leave Cam.

Actually, Samuel was projected in the second round, so he was not "way over drafted."  Secondly, people are putting #1 WR expectations on him.  Most #2 WRs are not 1000 yard guys.  Typically you are looking for 750 to 1000 yards.  Any more than that, you really have two #1 wideouts on your team or have a stupid accurate QB in a pass-happy offense.  Samuel should break the 750 yard marker by the end of the season.

Samuel has started like 2 or 3 games when he and Cam were actually both healthy.

The two of them looked good in training camp.

What good is a deep threat receiver if your QB can’t hit his targets deep with any consistency?

Cool. So Jameis Winston is super accurate? Good to know.

Specifically talking deep balls? Yeah, he's actually pretty good. He's 3rd in the NFL in 20+ yard completions, 2nd in 40+. Allen is 23rd and 22nd, respectively. Allen's longest completion is 52 yards good for 32nd in the NFL.

This forum has a weird hatred for Samuel that i dont understand.  With a real qb and good scheme that utilized him he would be a killer.  We just suck and by the time he learned the game he got injured on a td catch.  then cam got injured and we havent had a deep ball in 2 years.  Hes a dangerous #2 or slot wr that can stretch the field but without chemistry and confidence with a qb.

Put that kid on the pats or baltimore and hes a premier weapon

I think he was over drafted if your plans were to have him line up and just play WR

We basically would have needed to of not drafted CMC. Have him been a complementary player in our backfield that would then motion out to WR.   Basically be CMC super lite.

I still think people forget he was more RB than WR in college and his issues aren’t all his QB

Hard to have a super great scheme built for him when you have CMC.

Granted we could do a better job.  Our issue seems to be that we consistently draft players whose roles are or will be largely occupied for others in recent years

I don't hate him. I hate that 4 1000 yd receivers were drafted after him. I hate that we've seen 3 injury plagued meh seasons from him and that it's become Kyle Allen's fault all of a sudden. He has failed because he is undersized, and was never a great route runner. The fact that his numbers could be better if he played for the Ravens are completely irrelevant to whether he was a great selection for us. Because we aren't the Ravens

Winston is currently #2 in the NFL in total yards with about 1,200 more yards than Allen.  Somebody had to catch those passes.  In order to catch the passes, they need to be fairly accurate.  Winston has also thrown about 100 more passes.  Winston is also top 5 in average yards per game.  So yeah while he throws a TON of INTs which kills his QB rating, he's also distributing the heck out of the rock too.
