I may have a 49ers friend to blame for this but there's just something about Greg Roman I'm not particularly fond of.

We would need to have backups that are in that mold as well. Something we don't have right now. 

I'm not as big a Greg Roman fan as others but should he come here and get his own QB, I'd assume he'd base his attack around that quarterback's strengths and weaknesses.

And lets face it: Athletic specimens like Lamar Jackson don't grow on trees.

I’m down to bring in Colbert and Khan together if they’re really on their way out of Pittsburgh. They’re close to Tepper so probably share the same vision and can bring a winning pedigree.

Right now I would say my front runner is Greg Roman. I want an offensive head coach this go around. Campbell is intriguing but I’m really not sure what he has had his hand in. Working under Sean Payton certainly isn’t a negative.

I would be intrigued at giving Kris Richards a look at DC if the Cowboys coaching staff gets blown up after the season and he doesn’t get a head coaching gig. Hell, I’d even like Marinelli as DC.

Marinelli as a DC would be great. And as long as we're poaching from the Cowboys, I wouldn't mind picking up Marc Colombo to coach the offensive line either. He and Campbell were teammates for one season in Dallas.

One of the theories I've knocked around in my head is Campbell getting his old colleague Joe Brady to come be his OC and maybe getting someone like a fired Dan Quinn to run the defense. Marinelli might actually be a greater likelihood if he's available because he coached the Lions from 2006 to 2008 while a certain tight end was playing there.

I will say, and you may have already seen this if you read earlier in the thread, a Colbert-Roman combo seems like something that could genuinely happen.

Just being in the same division is a pretty weak connection.  You sure jumped from conspiracy theory to calling it a genuine possibility quick.

Greg Roman would be interesting. He was the scapegoat in Buffalo and should have never been fired in my opinion. In his time between SF and BUF, his offense had a top 10 DVOA in 4 of the 6 years and that was with guys like Tyrod Taylor and Kaepernick. Add in what he is doing this season and ot just adds to the resume.

One person I haven't seen mentioned much, if at all, is Mike McCarthy. I'm not saying I want him, but hes apparently been building a staff. He is also from Pittsburgh like Tepper....

Wasn’t Roman fired from the 49ers as OC before the new brain  trust was brought in ?

Yup. During his time there he had DVOAs of 18, 5, 8 and 16. Then went to BUF and had DVOAs of 9 (Bills were 26th the year before) and was fired in week 2 of his second yr but the offense finished 10th in DVOA.

Hes had spotty success as an OC but does that mean he'd be a good HC?
