You don't give money on hopes and dreams.

Question one. Can Cam's arm make it thought a season. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Question two. Can Cam's body hold up through a NFL season. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Question three. Is Cam on the wrong side of 30. Yes.

With only one yes and two who knows you think a NFL team will just she'll out 19 million for multiple seasons? Especially when Cam is older than most back up QBs that have been healthier?

Well no one is going to shell out really any money for a guy under contract to another team. IF he gets traded, that would absolutely be shelling $19 mil out for Cam. IF he gets cut then he will likely be offered a short term and heavily incentive laden contract, but one that I would expect could meet or exceed that $19 mil(perhaps not in initial guaranteed money).

I don't expect to see Cam getting the multi-year contract offers that some in here seem to think he is after. He's going to go at a market rate, which is going to likely be a shorter term "prove it" deal but with a high initial price because I suspect as a prime age QB his market value will naturally be very high being a former top 15 QB. No one else on the list would have higher market value save perhaps Brees and Brady, and Brady's value may be flagging. Hell, show me a QB on that FA list that is going to be looking at a high value long term offer. It's mostly 39+ QB's(speaking of fuging past their prime), busted first round draft picks or average quality(at best) NFL journeyman.

Chuckleheads salivate over Mahommes (who already had a serious injury) and L. Jackson both of whoms body types may or may not last taking an NFL beating.

Considering all he's been through especially being targeted by the NFL itself Cam has held up well. The new guy already needs a knee brace and sorry to say it, but the NFL will soon figure out L.Jackson.

Jackson has largely avoided a serious beating. Time will tell if his playing style can keep that up. He's more elusive than he looks.

Whatever small amount of football knowledge some of that crowd has is completely lost in their need to wage pitched battles over personal beefs across the entire site. It's just a small group of people who can't step away from the Chans or Reddit and insist on their existence being about trolling and spreading mayhem.

No reason to derail this thread any further with their nonsense. I will just add him to my growing list of "Ignored" posters. Jeremy was right, it's really the only way to clean this place up with that sewer still around.

Oh I understand, I used to post in the Tbox, but have not in the last 15 months or so.

It went from a place where you could argue opinions to only a place for personal insults.  There are no arguments left there, so I suppose they creep out to find someone to argue with in other forums.

It was an abject failure of moderation that let it go down that road. It is what it is. I just care that the nastiness doesn't spill out into here.

Anyway, enough time letting them derail the thread.

as long as they win it all before that happens then they're golden. they're in it for a good time, not a long time. at this rate mahomes or jackson are the two most likely young qbs to win a SB imo.

"Under contract" is a very interesting term when you get to the last year of a veteran's deal.

Well, he obviously has the ability to hold out. It's going to be interesting to see what transpires. IMO, the decision on him is our third most important this offseason. #1 is HC and #2 in GM/FO.

I'm talking more from the management side, honestly.

Conventional wisdom in the NFL is that you don't let your star player get to the final year of their contract without talking extension.

The Panthers have done that a few too many times.

Yeah but this is a special case, IMO. It's also rare that you have a player of Cam's caliber have these kind of injury issues lag on into the critical years without resolution(also a failure of management, BTW).

Listen, my dude. We've gotten along pretty well here at times, you and I, and we've probably butted heads a few times, too.

But, what exactly do you think you're doing with posts like this?

You expect to be able to take broad stroke digs like this, and then control the narrative and take your ball and go home (or worse, whine about how Tinderbox stuff ends up here?)

Wake up and realize that YOU and others are just as much of the problem that you're whining about.

Is Cam still "a player of Cam's caliber" though?

Who he is now is all that matters. Who he used to be doesn't mean anything.
