Here's the thing. I rather have Cam stay too. Unfortunately, if he stays, that means that Rivera will remain here, or at least the chances of him staying are higher if Cam stays here. Although with Teppers words about accepting mediocrity. He could be open to keeping Cam and parting with Rivera and Marty. Which for me would be the best case scenario.

Why do so many people assume that Cam and Ron are joined at the hip? I think they should be evaluated separately and then go from there.

Why do people think they are not? They came in the league together, they did everything that have achieved up to this point together. Really it's up to tepper, but you can't deny they are indeed joined at the hip up to this point.

Scenario, Ron goes, new guy comes in. He doesn't want Cam. Well, that sucks but they're both out. That's why I say best case scenario would be that Ron leaves and you get a fresh team in here to actually get the most out of Cam and company.

Exactly---the only way they are joined is--if it were not for Cam, RR would be the DC in Buffalo.

They are not joined at the hip. That's nonsense. How many different coaches have various franchise qbs survived. Matt ryan comes to mind.

They are joined at the hip. You can't say otherwise at this point. Gets came in, he could have gotten another Coach. He didn't. Tepper came in, HE could have gotten a new coach, he didn't. What does that tell you? They. Are. Joined. At. The. Hip.

I mean how many OC's has Cam had but the same coach? If Tepper moves on from one, well good. That needed to happen a long time ago. Again, I much rather have Cam stay.

Agreed.

I understand the consternation as it relates to Ol' Rowboat but it cannot be denied he is 2-time NFL Coach of the Year and accomplished that under the specter of The Big Cat....heck he might have won 4 with a decent owner!

Bottom line, the odds of finding someone who is available, and is a better coach than Riverboat....are VERY low.

Odds of finding an MVP calibre QB like Cam are WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY lower.

It's really just a matter of coincidence -- both stand on their own accomplishments -- and neither are going anywhere.

PS....Tepper didn't need 16 months to evaluate Hurndog & Riverboat, he had that done in the first 16 days.  If he was going to make a change he would have done so in his first 30-days of ownership.

Cam and Rivera will always be connected in their time in Carolina, but it is possible that we could move on from Rivera and keep Cam if he ends up healthy.

I don't see Rivera returning next year, so no point in commenting on that.

I agree, Cam's health will determine whether he come's back or not.  Rivera being here or not will have little impact, unless the new coach just doesn't want him around.

That doesn't tell you any thing that's a crazy assumption. When getts came in and you have a franchise qb why the heck would you move on from cam. Ron was winning with cam as well so it made sense both stayed that's all. Tepper came in a first time owner and didn't want to mess up a stable situation if they kept winning or could keep winning. He said it himself he was a rookie learning.

None of what you said means any changes have to happen. You have a new gm but already a good franchise qb and coach so you think why changing it for something uncertain? Same thing with tepper coming in. You dont change thing just because you want to when you first arrive. Smart gm and owner will evaluate the situation.

Like...everything you said just means they are and have been tied at the hip here. I mean...I don't know if we just don't agree or what, but whatever..

as for your "Ron was winning with cam" remark, they were 7-9 when he came in, Gettleman. That's not winning dude. Also if you move on from someone you move on from the Coach, not the young QB. I never suggested to move on from CAM, that preposterous when you have a young QB that broke a boatload of records in his rookie season. I suggested that the new GM, Gettleman, had the chance to move on from him. We don't know what was going on from closed doors and the way the organization was being run back the with Richardson, you can't for a fact say that it wasn't JR pulling strings and not letting the new GM choose his own coach. So again, they have been tied at the hip since they both got here. They will be tied there until this coming season ends. In my initial post I suggested that there is a strong Chance that if Cam stays so does Rivera. Do with that what you will. It's not an absolute truth.
