Saquon Barkley is an all-time talent and better than McCaffrey

Barkley isn't a bad player at all. Dude had a high ankle sprain, missed like, two games and came back and has continued to play.

Teams are selling out on the run and making Daniel Jones throw it. If Jones improves at all in the offseason then Barkley will have a better year next year.

I personally think Barkley is a beast and hold no ill will towards him. Hope he has a great career, just not against the Panthers.

Also I have both him and CMC in my dynasty fantasy league, so I'm a bit biased in this regard...

This is the sort of conversation that ultimately will not be too kind to either player when you look at how the NFL is evolving.

Saquon and McCaffrey are both legit threats. The harsh gut punching truth though is the running back position is becoming more and more devalued as each league year passes. You see big names come and go, but teams across the NFL are running the ball without investing top picks or throwing out record contracts.

At the end of the day, you need an OL, and you need a QB. We've seen our own team falter this year with the game on the line even with a talent like #22 in the backfield.

Look man, lets not kid ourselves. Looking at their athletic measurements Saquon Barkley is without a dout more gifted than CMC on paper. Times measurements whatever. Hes bigger faster and stronger. Hes a bigger homerun threat.. with super 40 speed, and this 4th and 1 4th and short issue that we keep losing games on I'm not sure Barkley doesn't win those. Hes 233 and hes faster.. hes a generational talent* meaning tools he has to work with.

cmc is a good athlete.. right at or above average in athletic testing in the areas of speed. But I think his cone was elite. Cmc is probably the best receiving back I have ever seen in my lifetime. Having said that Barkley isn't that far behind him. Hes made some outstanding grabs that wrs couldnt make and caught what 80 balls last year?

The reason he isn't standing out this year? Didn't he just break his ankle or some significant injury? That has drastically changed his lateral speed and agility. I dont know if this is who he is forever or this injury is just temporary but that doesn't change how he looked coming out. Saying you would take CMC right now vs saying if they both were in the same class and we didn't know any of this would happen I'm betting 90% of us go Barkley. I know I would.

On that note, CMC is the better player only because his receiving ability makes him transcends his position. Saquon is the better traditional runningback but that just doesn't cut it in today's NFL.

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
