He is a below average athlete by NFL standards where at his position you are routinely called the most athletic position in the NFL.

I'm talking more about the position flexibility aspect.

It's not just the approach though. We've got both a head coach and a GM who are weak at talent evaluation.

Maybe you can get away with one or the other of those two being bad, but not both.

I mean It doesn't have to be that hard as Gant would say. Look at the guys we have hit somewhat on. Higher sparq/athletic profiles. Burns, CmC, Moore, Jackson, josh norman some what,if your gonna take a shot on a guy go with the guy with the better athletic upside.... I'm not saying you cant hit on a lower teir athlete. But they are much much harder to identify and you generally have much less room for error.

And here come the excuses we always get.. Nithing s ever anyone’s fault. Which is why this organization is the way it is. Acceptance of incompetence as the normal. And supporting it.

Its not excuses.  Its just showing how hard it is to hit on picks after the 1st/2nd round.  And if we go into every draft with the expectation that 3rd+ picks should always turn into viable starters that is unrealistic and we will regularly be let down.  Because that doesn't happen anywhere in the NFL.

I am not defending the pick.  Only pointing out how drafting isn't as easy as the hindsight arm chair GMs sitting behind a screen make it out to be.

Hopefully Samuel is next.

We've wasted so many fuging second round picks in Dave Gettleman's years. GROSS!

Samuel is a good player.  If you accept what he is.  Which we haven’t to date.

He is a diverse backfield player.  He was more RB than WR in college.  He totally make sense if you don’t have a CMC.  Always a head scratcher to follow up the CMC pick with him

Just now, CRA said:

Marty Hurney should never be allowed to draft a Saftey.  Simple as that.

Better off with patchwork vets

Or a defensive tackle. Heck, outside of DJ Moore, his record with receivers is nothing to write home about either.

Someone previously pointed out that even his first round success is pretty heavily geared toward "safe" positions like linebacker and running back.
