Moore vs Ridley the age old debate.

Heaven knows we've spent plenty of time debating McCaffrey vs Kamara, but when you get right down to it, does it really matter?

Those kinds of things are fun for fan debates but they don't truly mean anything. All that actually matters is whether they're contributing to your team or not.

CR is probably the better receiver out of the two currently, he's also in a better situation.  QB stability, indoors, older, better college coaching, etc....

DJ can be the better receiver over time, and is certainly the better athlete, and has higher upside.

I think that both are good, with CR edging DJ currently.

After they drubbed us last week I saw many fans saying we clearly made a mistake picking Moore before Ridley. At the time It seemed like a reasonable assessment. Not knowing much about Moore before the draft I to was in the Ridley camp. He was a bigger name and put up superior (speed) combine numbers.

After listening for weeks leading up to the draft to the talking heads,I came away with the impression Moore was the superior route runner and a yac beast. Year one Ridley made it a easy 1-0 his favor and I thought To myself I knew it, the Panthers found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again.. I mean only we could have our choice out of any wr in the draft and come away with second best.

This year I believe it looks closer than one might think. Ridley hasn't slowed down his production but moore is picking his game up. He looks stronger period at the point of attack and after the catch. Ridley is still give him a crack and he's gone fast. Moore didn't have a bad 40 time but, him getting caught from behind is starting to vex me a bit.

I do believe Moore makes more happen with less, but does Moore benefit from wr 1 targets or does having Matt Ryan and Julio Benefit Ridley by drawing the lesser of 2 defenders and single coverage more often?

What say you...

Moore is a ticking fumble bomb waiting to happen. Yeah if you get him out in space he's gone unless ankle tackled. His hands aren't great and isn't a number one receiver.

Having Julio certainly opens things up for Ridley where Moore doesn't have that benefit. Other than that, Moore is a beast with the ball and is a terror once he catches it. I don't see Ridley breaking tackles or carrying guys with him. I definitely don't see Ridley succeeding at this level if he were here instead.

Historically older WR prospects produce sooner when they hit the league.

2017 Cooper Kupp(23) vs Chris Godwin(20)

Kupp is a stud that produced early and often(older prospect/better route runner),  people had him above Godwin the last two years.

Younger wr(Godwin) constantly improves route running over the past 3 years. Now that Kupp over Godwin argument looks foolish even tho both are good to great WR.
