I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was going for the ball but even then, there was a clear whistle at least a full second before he did that and everyone else on the field had shut down on the play. I think there's a good chance he thought he could get away with a cheap shot so he took it. Really dumb on a 3rd and long when your team just got a sack to get off the field.

The action itself (the punch) was acceptable.  The foul, imo, was in the lateness of the action.  After the whistle.  

It just looks worse when a really big guy punches a little feller and make hims fall down.

The punch will be abused and eventually banned.  OP is correct.

That was a forearm into the head.  It wasn't a punch towards the ball.

I can't see anyone getting hurt but the puncher. They take much bigger hits on a regular basis than a punch.

Its pretty clear that dirty play is encouraged on that team.  Maybe even rewarded.

It was a cheap shot he tried to sneak in and got caught. He then tried to cover his tracks by using this as an excuse. It would be a real shame if someone were to accidentally twist his ankles next game.

I’m one to usually be hypercritical of officiating but all in all I feel like this was one of the better officiated cats games this year. I was a little befuddled by the picked up flag on the missed FG.

I’ll be honest, at first glance I didn’t think much of it. And then I looked at a couple of replays. And then I remembered this is Cam Jordan we’re talking about. Yeah, it was bad.
