Our field goal attempt is why Rivera needs to go...

You go for FG there all the time. If you were stopped at the goal line over and over, you need to kick for the lead.

It’s sad that our season is really on the line, we are on the road, and shockingly we are tied and have 4 plays to get 3 yards and win the game and you fail.

my bigger concern with that sequence was how much time wa sleft on the clock after running five plays.

if you're going to kick the field goal, decide at the beginning and call plays with the intention of running out the clock.

like the rollout with allen might be a fine play, but if it doesn't work he has no other option but to throw it away. I thought he might just dive to the ground to keep the clock rolling but he didn't.

And the runs up the gut? jesus christ how many times are we going to see that with cmc in the red zone?

the missed FG was just icing on the cake.

it's these tiny little situational things where ron consistently fails. he just refuses to adapt to the moder aspects of the game.

Nah, sorry. You don't give up what should have been a sure 3 points, save Slye monumentally choking, to take a lead when there's less than 2 minutes left and the Saints have 1 timeout. If he did go for it, the decision would have been universally condemned and people would be demanding his firing even more than they are now. We were also 10 yards away on 4th down after the sack, not 1 or 2. There's enough things to complain about. This isn't one of them.

We’re talkin about going for 3 vs going for a TD and ignoring the worthless plays we called to do everything but get in the endzone. No one has ever been open on that Allen run out. Get CMac the ball in some space along the outside and let him fight for 3 yards.

Classic Rivera is worried more about the clock than getting 6. We were perfectly ok aiming for a FG with 1st down from the 3. It doesn’t matter whether we made the FG or not. We were gonna lose the game, because we have a loser’s mentality down the stretch.

So you trust our defense to stop them from getting in field goal range over CMC getting the ball 4 times straight to get 3 yards?

Yes because our o-line was getting manhandled all day and when we do try to run with cmac it was stuffed

Far be it from me to say the playcalling was creative, it wasn't. It was bad. But our redzone personnel is Garbage.

Of all things this is not the reason. He goes for it and misses and ysou are making the same thread the other way  That's a fact.

The team played up to the competition and lost because the kicker is terrible when people we hoping to get blown out. That's not on coaching.

Big fuging Facts

Game is tied. 1st and goal at the three...we stuck it up three plays in a row. Now as head coach with your team sitting at 5-5, playoffs on the line, on the road against your division rival who has only lost two games all year, knowing your kicker is struggling bad, you attempt to kick the field goal instead of going for the TD. We all know that if you score a touchdown,  the odds are extremely low that the saints come back to tie, not to mention the odds are very good that they march down and get a field goal to tie even if he makes it because we have a turd defense (that he is calling plays for). Ron Rivera has a Losers mentality and needs to go. He is a solid coach but will not take us to a championship, and if you know that then you need to find someone who gives you a chance. 31-34-1 in games decided by a touchdown or less. He is Jeff Fisher 2.0

So your position is, if you fail 3 times from the 3, you should go for the TD from the 10 (following the sack) rather than take what should be an automatic go ahead FG with less than 2 minutes left on the clock.

If he gets the TD, tremendous pressure on. NO

if he doesn’t get it, more time off the clock and pressure on NO to drive the field for a TD vs a FG

it was a huge decision and on the road against a better team, a playoff team, with your job on the line, against one of the greatest QBs of all time, instead of bowing up and telling his men to get it done, Ron shrunk

he always shrinks. Always. There is a famous you tube video of cam screaming at him for wanting to send the kicker out in Atlanta on a fourth and inches in 2017 and that was with a healthy Cam

ron shrank. Just like turner shrank on the red zone play calls

teams that shrink in the nfl sit home at playoff time

Against the saints on the road at the end of the game? Yeah I do. Okay so say you were playing for a field goal the entire time... they should have ran it three time. At least then they are out of time outs and have a ton of time off the clock. At least then you give your mvp a chance to win it for you. Three straight running plays out in space to get three yards... then if you fail, you settle for a field goal and run that clock down and eliminate time outs. We aren’t smart about playing safe or being aggressive to win.

What is on coaching is the multiple goal line stops we have had to witness that's cost us 3 wins this year. We can put that on Norv, but Ron out Norv in that position to make calls. We have the best player in space the NFL has seen in quite some time. And what do you do? Bash his head against a brick wall because our oline can't stop a nose bleed. Anyone that's ever smelt the leather on a football could've came up with a more creative game plan to ice the games against Tampa, Green Bay, and this one.

That is on the coaches. Not to mention our defense is hemorrhaging.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
