This fan base has absolutely checked out of this season in a way I haven't seen since 2010

Well other teams have Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson,...

we got a Kyle Allen and the worst defense in football.

While our run defense is terrible, we are not even close to the worst total defense in the NFL. There are 13 other defenses that give up more yards per game and 7 higher in points allowed per game. The Arizona Cardinals defense that let Allen throw for 264 and 4 TDs has to be the worst

Yep, I don't even care anymore. Anyone watching the rest of these games are just going to see

1. Norv running our star RB to the ground for no reason

2. Kyle Allen only completing passes to wide open receivers and check downs to CMC

3. Defensive Mastermind Ron Rivera's defense get dominated

Who the fug wants to watch that poo?

Exactly resuming my Sunday workouts!!  Not wasting my day watching that crap!!

We just got dominated by a 2-7 division rival with nothing to play for AT HOME.    A team in disarray crushed us.    Fans have a right to be a bit disinterested.

That’s the take on it in NC. Elsewhere football fans- not saying Carolina fans- are saying that the Falcons manhandled the saints the week before and don’t think it is a problem. They generally think Allen is an unknown, could be the worst or the best. Everyone has CMC in fantasy that had a shot at him though lol. Consensus seems to be we are a good team that lost our QB and are not having a bad season based on that.... YMMV

The problem is I think Ron has lost the most important coaching factors-- intimidation/fear of failure in his players.  I believe he's seen more as a peer.  At that point as a coach, he has lost the team for all intents and purposes.  Yeah, they will give lip service as to playing hard for Rivera, but are they really?  We can all see that's not true. It wasn't until Arthur Blank stopped saying Dan Quinn's job was safe that the Falcon's really turned their season around.   Maybe if Tepper insinuated Ron's job is on the line, that all of 'Rivera's guys' might step up to the plate and put in that 100% effort all game, just not while the game is competitive.  To me, it's like the team is just going through the motions because they realized this is not going to be a banner year they were hopeful for.  For a team to be on life support at 5-5 is honestly insane!  Instead of scratching, clawing and fighting their butts off, it seems like they are just ready for the season to over with.

That is terrible only 7 teams allow more points per game than us, but we have a supposed defensive mastermind as our head coach.

I know people around the league say Rivera is a good coach and he is well respected but what are they supposed to say? Hey Carolina Ron sucks why don't you guys get a real coach? Who is in the business to help their competition.

It would be weird if an NFL head coach wasn't "well respected" to some degree.  A lot of them have been around the league for a long time in various jobs and were probably at the very least were aware of each other as they moved up the ranks.  Especially an ex-pro like Ron who played for an iconic coach on an iconic team.  He's definitely a member of the fraternity.

It's like saying somebody in the NFL is a talented athlete.  Well yeah if they made it to the point where they're playing professionally in the top competitive league in American sports they probably are.

Dick LeBeau is one of the most well-respected names in NFL history. A bona fide defensive genius who proved his mettle over a very long, successful career.

Keeping that in mind, look up his record as a head coach.

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
