The Grier Question

No one is dodging anything. I've clearly said you will not know who is good or bad at this point. Next year you start over, get a better line, and let all three QBs battle it out. Simply put no pocket QB is going to look good at this point. So my question is what makes you think Grier is better? Simply because he hasn't played?

So you don’t know if Kyle Allen is good or bad? Is that what you are saying?

Allen wasn't figured out. He just started to play better teams and our other problems came to the surface. Allen could never be more than a game manager this year. No Rookie QB besides Cam , Luck, and a few others can be. Still putting a Raw QB like Greir out there isn't going to change much. More likely it will make matters worse.

Better teams like the 2-7 falcons...

Will Grier should play. He loves to throw the deep ball (which we are sorely missing) and Kyle Allen is regressing back to the mean as teams get more film on him. He ain't sneaking up on anyone anymore.

Of course, Rivera has already made up his mind on who his starter is and will never waiver. That's my biggest issue with Rivera. He will stick with a player even if he's playing like trash rather than put in another guy to at least see what he has - unless his hand is forced due to injuries.

Not sure why they're so adamant about "developing" Kyle Allen. He ain't the guy - at least not right now. Should see what we have in Grier because Kyle is probably a career backup or a long term project at best.

No point in explaining to the cult of Cam that you wish whomever the starting QB is, to do well. They simply can't understand that any QB starting on this team will have a hard time.

I am also torn between hoping that Grier gets a chance (otherwise why make the pick) and dreading the possibility that after a significantly worse preseason than Kyle he will have his confidence destroyed.

I don't see the value of playing Grier against the Saints. I want to see how Allen responds to his horror show, and then give Grier an easier debut.

This is a debate that's been whispered around the edges of some of the other discussion, but I thought I'd go ahead and speak it aloud.

If the Panthers were eliminated from playoff contention (a serious possibility at this point) would you want to play out the rest of the season with Will Grier as the starting quarterback?

Some have pointed out that we'd have nothing to lose by seeing what we have in him. Others have suggested that you take the risk of giving him David Carr syndrome by sticking him behind our current offensive line.

What's your take? Would you give him a shot?

Do you believe Ron Rivera would give him a shot?

I think we should give him a shot right now. Rivera has zero reason to switch if he thinks Allen still has a better shot to help us win games, and that probably is the case.

If Allen bombs again against the Saints, the Redskins are up next. If you're going to give a mid-round rookie a mid-season shot, that's probably the best chance to get him wet behind the ears. Unfortunately, Ron also knows it's his best shot at notching another W so he would likely stick with the status quo because that's what Ron does best.

Lol still won’t answer huh? What makes you like Kyle Allen so much? Is it his moxie? His TD to turnover ratio? The way he combs his hair? Give some reasons stopping dodging legit questions because you have no answers

No one is dodging anything. Your just trolling now.

I'm in the camp of sending such a raw prospect out there could damage him long term. But that's my opinion, either way we are not making the playoffs and if Allen keeps giving up 4 ints we will know what to do next year.

To be fair, Allen looked really good (aside from the fumbles) in three of his first four starts and we went 4-0. Snake fell in love and crowned him the current and future franchise QB. It's been downhill ever since. Allen has thrown 3 TDs vs. 9 INTs in the last 4 games and we've gone 1-3 including two absolute blowouts. Snake had just already gone all in on Allen so he refuses to budge.

His preseason was better than Kyles as a whole. Kyle had the worst preseason of Taylor, Will or Kyle. We only saw Grier in the preseason with lineman and weapons that aren’t on our active roster against other trash players. At this point we deserve to see what he can do with the ones if Allen has another loss that kinda seals the season for us.

but again, Kyle Allen moves the ball the absolute worst of all our preseason QBs. I posted the stats a ton previously.

I remember them both having bad games. They also both had good moments. There was one game where Grier didn't look ready at all. I really don't think it was clear cut either way. And how much does it really matter? Ryan Finlay of the Bengals had a stellar preseason.

I don't think keeping Allen in the team will be the reason we don't make the playoffs. I am totally fine with Grier starting but not against NO in Louisiana. We are 3 games put of the wildcard with virtually all our opponents having tiebreakers against us
