The Grier Question

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

This is a debate that's been whispered around the edges of some of the other discussion, but I thought I'd go ahead and speak it aloud.

If the Panthers were eliminated from playoff contention (a serious possibility at this point) would you want to play out the rest of the season with Will Grier as the starting quarterback?

Some have pointed out that we'd have nothing to lose by seeing what we have in him. Others have suggested that you take the risk of giving him David Carr syndrome by sticking him behind our current offensive line.

What's your take? Would you give him a shot?

Do you believe Ron Rivera would give him a shot?

We did it with Heinekie and Allen last season. Why should it be any different this time around.

In my opinion after Allen’s recent performances, Grier should at minimum be getting some reps with the first unit in practice and should have been playing during garbage time in games.

He's not made of glass. He'd be fine. How many times do you think as a kid this guy wished to be the QB of the Carolina Panthers?

Kyle beat him out btw...the backup QB is always the most popular guy when things go south.  Would like to see Grier as well though.

An evaluation brought to you by the guy who believed Amini Silatolu was better than Andrew Norwell.

Granted, you have Turner's input as well but still...

    • Does anyone know what the beginning of the league year means in terms of signing FAs? Anything? Will we just see a handful of guys released into the FA pool?
    • This is an excellent synopsis!  Our WR group is a 34 year old man who has had a hellova career, but can't keep it up forever. A draft reach who only produced 1 season in college and was seen as a project with a tremendous ceiling IF he hits his potential. I really hope that 2024 was essentially a redshirt year for him. And finally a UDFA that didn't get any real time until we were more than halfway through last season. AND THAT'S ALL. We need at least 3 more players, one of which has to start day 1.
    • Oh good grief. You can give him credit for the good without just glossing over the bad and pretending like we were not absolute hot garbage at certain points last season when the games still mattered and people were just complaining to complain. Make no mistake. While we hold Morgan in regard and like him a great deal because he's a former franchise player. He has to prove he can build this team through the draft just as much as any Panthers coach or player has to prove it out there on the field. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging these plain truths.
