Here's something I've been waiting to post.  This thread seems like a good place.

After we got blown out by the 49ers, I was reading a post on another forum about a fan who had the misfortune of working with some Cowboys fans, and they were all on Twitter.

After the game, one of the Cowboys fans tweeted "Keep pounding my ass."

Friends, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn the value of punctuation.

The Panthers fans were letting him have, and then even the other Cowboys fans were getting in on it.  He refused to take it down for some reason, until it started going viral and he deleted it on Monday.

Pretty funny.  Hope you get a smile out of it.  We may suck this year, but at least we're not Cowboys fans.

Hahahaha....good laugh, needed it.

Thank you, @musicman for the positive viewpoint. #98 is Haynes btw. Don't forget #77 Kyle Love and #93 McCoy who are good pieces on the D-line too. And a big think you for not mentioning Williams on the o-line. I feel better about the safeties and cb's than I have for years.

Oh, I know. Still can save $14M in 2020. Restructuring his contract just to do nothing with it was stupid. His dead money after 2019 went up $4-6M or something like that for no good reason.

Even if we stupidly keep him in 2020, he’s still got almost $11M dead cap in 2021.

That's how Hurney rolls and why I do not like him as GM. He uses the players as banks, restructuring to roll the money forward hoping it never catches up to him but it does. It never helps the player because money in hand is worth more than money in the future so when a player agrees to it know they are doing it for the team.

All this assumes a new coach right

That's what I'm saying. We can talk about all the positives now, but if we retain Rivera and Hurney yet again next year, all of it's for nothing because we will go through the same sh*t next year.

As much as I would love go buy into all this positivity all the things the OP mentioned we still have this season minus Cam and short and we are still getting our teeth kicked in. Either those guys aren't that good or something else is drastically missing. Losing to the Falcons in the fashion we did really put things in perspective.

This is a rebuild. Plenty of pieces I would like to keep sure. All the young guys. But we have a lot of money tied up in vets who just aren't getting it done at the level they are paid.

Now the real question is our problem a lack of talent/production or is it tied directly to the coaching?

Would Bruce Arians have better results with this roster? Sean Payton? Dan Quinn?

Honestly, I had thought that our aging DL on short term contracts was a problem for us. Based on the way they've played this year, now I'm thinking it's probably a good thing. I really wish Hurney hadn't kicked the can down the road on Short's contract. The DL needs a rebuild and fortunately the co tract situations allow for it to happen.

So, what is the bigger and more critical priority for a rebuild, defensive or offensive line?

I mean it's probably equal. I'm not sure we have one good starting offensive lineman they have all had their weeks they looked terrible. The young guys we dont have enough info on to say much but I'm not betting on any of them being 10 year starters. Our defensive line is full of aging yet talented players who I dont think should be around much longer if we are going full rebuild. I'm not complaining much about mccoy he has been solid. The rest kinda up and down. It's kind of a disaster on both fronts.

O-line. We can't keep a clean pocket, making us one dimensional at times. This absolutely puts too much pressure on the defense and CMC to keep the team in games. A running QB can help mitigate that problem, but it's time this team starts putting a premium on the offensive line again.

2015 proved that this team didn't need to have a suffocating, dominate defense. Keep Cam clean in the pocket, even with mediocre receiving threats, and we can score points in bunches. Only thing needed from the defense was to win the turnover battle, which was pretty easy given the offense's ability to take care of the ball.

I'd go all out on the o-line with proven vets in as many positions as possible. No one's safe on the oline as far as I'm concerned. If you can be upgraded, then you're odd man out.
