Carolina Panthers - New Orleans Saints - What do you know?

It appears the current line has the Panthers as 8.5 point dogs.  I will go with us playing better but taking a close loss.  31-27.

Even after losing Drew Brees for an extended time, Sean Payton and the Saints still have the 11th ranked pass attack in the NFL. Now that Brees is back I suspect their actual ranking is higher. This is a stark contrast to Ron Rivera who lost his starting quarterback and now enjoys an offense in shambles. 

Seeing the New Orleans Saints with the 6th ranked defense in the league is sobering. Gone are they days you could hope to outscore them 40-38 it seems. 

 

They have a better defense than us. I can’t believe I just typed that, now I am officially depressed.

I expect we’ll have a solid first half game plan. Then Rivera won’t adjust and combined with not being able to overcome the officiating we’ll get embarrassed in the 4th qtr.

The most damning stat is the difference in third-down efficiency for both offense and defense. Theirs it pretty darn good, and ours is putrid. Anyone who isn't a Saints fan and anticipates a win this week is setting themselves up for an even longer and more depressing week than the rest of us will have.

 

Not bloody worth it. Just enjoy watching us play, especially Run-CMC. Anything our guys do above those low expectations is just gravy at that point.

Saints OL has struggled lately especially since Peat has gone down.  Bree's has been pressured, a Lot.  

That being said, Sean Payton isnt dumb.  He kmows he has Kamara in his pocket and we have one of the leagues worst Run defenses

Id expect a heavy dose of Kamara and his biggest game of the season.

At the same time.  Unless they jump off to a lead early.  We will probably run CMC to death as well.

If im a team facing us right now.  Im not deferring.  Im taking the ball.  Because if you jump on us esrly.  We panic, crumble, and fall apart.

Honestly, Thomas will likely eat regardless. That man has been on a mission this season and it’s ridiculous to witness.

But since Brees returned, our pass protection really only struggled in the Falcons game after Peat went down and because Armstead was playing with the flu so the left side of our line was a swinging gate. Last week against the Buccaneers, Armstead looked like his normal self and Easton (who was a healthy inactive against Atlanta) filled in at LG and played surprisingly well against the  Buccaneers’ stout front 4. Our line only gave up 1 sack and 2 additional hits. The sack came on Taysom Hill and not Brees, on a play where he was actually going to throw it instead of a designed run, but the Buccaneers had great coverage and he didn’t let it go.

But considering y’all run defense, I’d hope Payton is planning a run-heavy gameplan, but as we’ve seen before, he’ll abandon the run (even if it’s working) and get pass happy.

But don’t fret if we get the ball first, we haven’t done dick on our opening drives all season to be honest.

Well, Brees is currently chasing Brady to be the first one to 540 career passing TD’s and pass Manning for #1 all-time.

Brady is at 531 and Brees is at 528.

Brady has averaged 1 TD per game over his last 7 games including 3 weeks where he didn’t throw any. Since returning from injury, Brees has averaged 2 TD’s per game over the last 3 games. Without the injury, Brees likely would’ve already reached it, but Brady passed him early in the season and now Brees is in chase mode and should likely catch him.

Well technically we had a better defense than y’all points wise in 2017 and 2018 too but I digress.

According the The NY Times, as we stand, we have a 10% chance to make the playoffs.

A lost to the Saints brings that to a hearty. . . 3%.

A win brings our chances up to. . . 20%.

Since Vick left the Falcons there has been no worse L inside the division than to the Stains.  Its hard to describe a loss to the Taints.  It burns, itches and stings.  All common symptoms after a trip to the quarter.  So wrap it up, take a bracing shot of penicillin and get ready for a repressed memory.
