D-Lew talks Panthers D, Ron and Kyle

Had his weekly segment on WFNZ:

Said the defense isn’t the problem, they’re actually playing pretty good. Offense is putting them in horrible situations and aren’t scoring points

Said Kyle is playing a lot better than people are giving him credit for. Is still young and trying to figure out different defensive looks. Said Kyle is definitely in the Panthers long term plans

Said Ron is not to blame for the problems. Doesn’t have his starting qb, working with a young inexperienced backup, young guys on the o-line. Said Ron deserves another year.

I usually agree with a lot of what he says but today he’s full of ****.

He may be, but I believe that inside that panthers building that is the thought process.

The media always giving Ron a pass on because of injuries. In reality no one gives a poo how many injuries we have and we shouldnt either.

I think the points are valid...… but most any season in the NFL can easily spin out of control due to the nature of the game. Depth matters so much in football. The Panthers were very aggressive in acquiring talent (FA and Draft) this past off-season. Unfortunately, the injury bug bit them at critical areas.  Kyle Allen has been tossed into a boiling cauldron. The kid was bad Sunday but me and the guys at BWW's watched countless instances where he had not even got into his 5th step of a 5 step drop to pass the ball. And you knock any QB around a number of times,  he's at your mercy.

The OL play is as bad as I have seen it.  I don't pretend to know the most sacks the panthers have allowed in the 25 year history, but it must be in serious jeopardy of being broken.

Our defense is also as bad as I have ever witnessed. Aside from sacks. there is nothing average about the defense.

And let's not begin to discuss our special team return game. There has not been one game this year that made me feel we got over the hump finally. Mishandling the ball on punt and kickoff returns has been our weekly version of Cheshire cops.

I have to remind / convince myself this group is 5 and 5. It is definitely fool's gold.  I suspect a fork can be easily stuck into the Panther 2019.

To Tepper's point.....sustained mediocrity is unacceptable,  That is music to my ears. However, we all need to prepare ourselves that the end is near and so are the winds of change.  I am reasonably confident that RR is going to be bounced. And sort of the same belief that Cam Newton will be gone as well.

There is some solid young talent but the roster will require significant upgrades, particularly along the offensive and defensive lines.

There is not a team in the Nfl that doesn’t have injuries

teams like NE prepare for interrupts to the most important position on the field, hence their two backups became starters and when traded,  provide draft picks

I suspect if Stidham has to go in this year he will perform well too

why?  Coaching  and preparation

then, we have Ron.  That’s all we need to know   Even Anderson was terrible the last two years and still Ron did nothing

...oh yeah, he did bench Cam for not wearing a tie, because you know, that was important
