A coaching staff wanting "their guy" isn't just a feel good idea, it's about a variety of other factors, most notably scheme fit.

Cam has already been a big investment for any new potential staff, not just in regards to personality, but playstyle. To narrow the scope of talented coaching prospects just to find somebody who is acquainted with Cam's game isn't going to be palatable for an owner, especially one without any emotional connection to him, especially with the other concerns present.

Why does the coach need to be acquainted with Cam's game? Cam looked great under Norv's completely different scheme last year until his arm fell apart.

I always maintained that Shula didn't as much have a "system" as much as he just went out there and relied on Cam to be Superman.

Mike Shula and norv Turner's offensive philosophy are almost identical, probably right down to the verbiage itself. Norv is supposedly a superior gameday playcaller and the offense looks a bit different with Cam's shoulder and Christian mcCaffery being here, but the offensive scheme itself is more or less the same.

You can't be serious. With Norv our plan has revolved around getting the ball out quickly to our play makers. With Shula, it was all about taking downfield shots with slow developing plays oftentimes completely lacking in checkdown options.

When Cam and Kyle are both gone next year hopefully enough fans come together to support the team’s new QB.

Doubtful. There’ll be a growing period where trolling cam fanboys will still be here pretending they were always Panther fans and follow for a bit mocking any QB the Panthers start and exhaustingly reiterate the wrong doings of this franchise to cam but once they lose interest for lack of attention and everyone moving one we’ll get back to panther fans relaxing talking football light heartedly on the forum once again... that’s my hope at least

I'm still here, and I'm still on the Allen bandwagon. Bad games happen. poo happens, doesn't mean we give up on him yet.

Oline was putrid. Arguably one of the worst games in recent memory. Even cam never had it that had.

Allen will be back with a vengeance next week and all of you will look silly.

There will be a lot of crow to be eaten next week. Take that to the bank

If you think Cam never had it that bad you either A. Just started watching games this season or B. Have a short fuggin memory.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
