Very interesting stat about our Rushers

I understand the whole 3-4 edge rushers aren't big enough in run defense, but I do have to say our DBs and safeties get in there. Out Edge guys, they sometimes seem to just take a break when its a run play. They need to show aggressive tendencies on both rushing and pass plays.

And give Love the start over Dontari.

They weren't a good rush defense but they averaged 4.5, 4.6, 4.2, 4.3, and 4.5ypc during his MVP season. They were never as bad as this rush D.

Ouch. I remember them being not great and we are worse. I really just don't get how Rivera keeps his job.

Do you think the change was to get to these NFCS QBs quicker? Past years experience had showed us that if you can't get to Matt Ryan and Drew Brees quickly they can pick you apart.

The result is more sacks which in our division is necessary. You've got to touch these NFCS QBs or you'll have no chance at all Cam included.

I think with a true 3-4 scheme and better coaching this unit could get to the QB and stop the run. I guess Rivera was banking on Cams ability to put up monster numbers and when that didn't happen you were left with a leaky defense and a offensive that could not put up enough points.

We traded size/power for speed. Now, here's the downside: dead last in defensive yards per carry and dead last by a long shot in rushing TDs allowed.

Maybe, but we didnt have speed last year and were still getting gashed.  I really think it's scheme/execution related.
