Nick Wright: If Panthers move on from Cam, they’ll be drafting a QB in first round of 2021 draft

That is yet to be determined. Teddy is a great example and Cam Newton is not Teddy. He will play at a very high level once again and come back in another uniform to stomp your JV team.

And on top of if the NFL will absolutely bump that game to primetime and throw every flag they didn't for Cam here to totally humiliate the Panthers FO for being that dumb.

You guys WANT something to be wrong with Cam so you can finally flip the apple cart.

If he's healthy you keep him. Kyle is the backup. JR understood that the NFL may not "favor" his team to be a "winner" so he would follow the Steelers model to build a contending franchise. He did that. The worst thing Tepper could do is deviate from that path.

He may have to figure out the nuances of being a favored owner/franchise from Krafty Kraft. JR wasn't the NFL's political superstar nor was he the officials friend but the Panthers have been knocking on that door. It opens and slams in your face sometimes but at least you have a good/great at times football team and nobody can take those memories away.

I'm very interested in the future but not total destruction for the sake of whimsy.

Quick....tell me how many championships, mvps those guys have between them?

Better yet....tell me how does Kyle Allen with his 10 TDs and 10 turnovers and other traits fuging compare to any of these guys?

I will do you one even better than that. WHY the fug are you looking for the next Jake Delhomme in the first place???

Kurt Warner has two super bowl appearances, a championship, a league MVP, a Super Bowl MVP and a dozen other awards and records.

Warren Moon was one of the most prolific passers in league history. Probably could have won a championship if he wasn't stuck on some sh-tty teams.

Warner and Moon are both in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Jake Delhomme Les the Panthers to their first Super Bowl and probably would have been named MVP had we won it (which we damn near did).

Other examples of great undrafted quarterbacks are guys like Jim Hart, Mike Tomczak and Eric Kramer.

Oh, and there's also this guy who was drafted in the sixth round who turned out to be better than the other guy on his team that would drafted Number 1 overall.

Draft position isn't such a big deal as you think.

How many championships and MVPS isn't' germane to this discussion. Your premise was undrafted player could not be a long term solution. I gave you multiple examples of guys who had. Jake was included simply because he met the criteria of a undrafted quarterback who had success.

As to your question of how does KA compares to these players, I maintain its too early to draw a conclusion.

There's a new Sheriff in town. What if he really believes in Lawrence?

more than one way to skin a cat.  The cost of acquiring a #1 overall pick isn't worth it generally.....and the cost for him would be comical.

Well, all is transient in life and in football. As much as I love some particular players (including Cam), seasons, games, etc, I try not to get too attached. I just have fun watching things unfold.

Having said that, I'm in the camp that thinks Kyle has shown enough to warrant a longer look. I think he can be a solid QB in the league. And of course, teams are always looking to upgrade. You're never out of the market for any position if you have the opportunity to improve your team.

Said pretty much how I feel.

I felt more confident in young Jake at this point in his tenure. He had a couple INTs but didn't have a turn over problem as big as Allen. How do these fumbles keep happening? Hand size? I dunno. Delhomme was a gun slinger day one. Aside from the fumbles, Allen has been great but he has exposed something other teams will now prey on.

I've said on this here site that he hasn't beat out a young Jake yet. Jake's ducks flew far enough for a guy like Samuel to catch in stride. Some of his deep throws were some ugly ducks but they got there.

Jake was a spit fire guy. Jake had guts. That's the ONLY thing that made Jake a franchise QB. He was never the tallest, strongest arm, most accurate QB but he always had guts, took chances. How many times did the ball leave his hands and your like "oh no!" then Moose or Smitty catch it and you were like SMH wow!
