In hindsight, should Rivera/Hurney have been retained for the 2019 season.

How many years have the panthers been under the control of Marty Hurney and Ron Rivera together?

How many playoff wins when the two of them are both employed at the same time?

How many division wins does Ron have since 2015?

And this is a prime example of not being able to put things in perspective.

Hurney and Rivera worked together from 2011-2012, and 2018-2019.

4 total season.

The first season together, was coming off of a 2-14 year.  The panthers went 6-10 then 7-9.  You can't expect results flipped that fast.

The last 2 seasons Cam Newton was hurt.  Even Belichick missed the playoffs when Brady was hurt.

So out of all 4 years they've been together, they have either had an injured QB or using a QB with 2 years or less NFL experience.

The Panthers had insane holes over the entire field last off season with extremely limited cap space.  They weren't going to be able to fill every hole.  No GM would.  Its like the team expects a coach better than Belichick and a GM that *never* messes up and is completely perfect.

I was a big advocate for regime change top to bottom in January. Get rid of all coaches and start a policy of no nepotism within the organization.

Fast forward to today, where would we be without Rivera/Hurney but instead a new coach that isn't on the hotseat?

Would we have a better backup QB situation?

Would Cam's injury have been treated better?

Would the team have more energy and excitement?

What say you? Would we be better or worse off than we are now?

Rivera, yes.

Hurney, no.

Tepper should’ve found a new GM and let that guy make a decision on Ron this season.

Hurney was the guy that never wanted to address the DT spot. We got gashed with Fua and McClain. Gettleman finally came and fixed that problem with his first two picks.

So, now that we've proven for those two to not be a good fit together.

How many playoff games has Ron won since 2015?

How many division games since 2015?

One of those picks that walked because he got paid majorly by another team.  We couldn't resign.  The other got injured.

You could also say that Gettleman never wanted to address DBs, Edge rushers, etc.

You might want to take another look at how much more only Star is making than Dontari Poe per season

You might want to realize that contracts are more than 1 year snapshots..unless the contract is for 1 year.

Poe can be cut this year.  Star can't.  Star was more over last year and this than Poe was.

What is their record?

Stop with the dancing around about who is hurt, what the roster looked like, etc...

Got it.  You just want to cherry pick what stats support your narrative rather than look at the entire picture.

If that is your angle, then there is nothing more to say.  Because thats a hilariously stupid approach to take to anything.

No, the first time I quoted you, you were saying that most here want change for change sake, and that nothing would have changed this year no matter who was coaching.

I'm not looking at this year.  I'm looking at this year, last year, the year before that....you know, every season since our magical ride to the Super Bowl.  That is not cherry picking, that is not anything other than looking at the record, looking at the coach and GM, and wondering exactly how they plan on fixing the team.

In my opinion, neither of them have any clue how to do so.

This isn't an Adam Gase situation where I'm condemning a 1st or 2nd year coach, Ron Rivera has been here for a fuging decade, Hurney just as long with a brief time out in the middle (because once again, he didn't know how to fix the Panthers), and their record together, and apart speak volumes.

It's time for a new direction for this franchise, Tepper was the first step, getting these two gone is the next.

My general understanding was that Tepper didn't want to walk through the door and make wholesale changes straightaway. He needed time to figure out the business side of things and so Ron/Hurney got to stay for the sake of consistency from a football perspective.

Think that grace period is running out, however. The real possibility that Cam is finished as a Panther at season's end makes me believe that Ron/Hurney will go out with them. They are intrinsically tied together, part of an era of Panthers football that has run its course. I think that was finally made crystal clear this season.
