It’s not just Cam Newton

Its been talked about ad nauseum

I 100% missed that part. I’ve just seen the endless one sided threads. This one admits Cam healthy is probably better but not better enough to warrant 20.5 million difference in cap... if cam gets surgery on the foot, Panthers can make the claim he was throwing in camp and just had foot issues; ultimately a successful season from 24 year old KA made them choose the younger guy. I feel like some team would buy that and send some picks... KA issues are basic football fundamentals such as ball handling and poor throwing choices. I feel with a full season of starts and a full training camp where he is 100% the qb and CMC is the offensive captain, he has a better chance at success. Plus a top 3 Olineman.

What a stupid thread.

I’ll go talk about how the grass is growing in front of BOA instead and how Ron has said missed opportunities for the 100th time. Hate to tell you, QB decisions effect a franchise for 10-15 years, will it kill a message board to talk about it for less then a calendar year? My point morso was the opportunity to solidify the o-line and sign extensions to key guys then re-sign questionable even after 1 more year Cam Newton.

P.S 4 fire Ron threads on this first page alone.

Only subjects allowed at CH: Why we should fire Ron, why it’s everybody’s fault but Cams, and how the Panthers won’t even make the playoffs after going 5-2 after starting 0-2.

I think the salary vs performance absolutely needs to be considered with Allen vs Cam. The team has a lot of options if they move on from Cam.

Talk about the pressure on Allen. He knows that the next few weeks will either have him wash out of the league as guy that had a few good games but not good enough to be the guy. OR he plays well and makes GENERATIONAL wealth for him and his family plus be the guy responsible to getting Cam released.

When he talks about just taking it one game at a time I believe him. That pressure looking to far into the future is heavy.

I hope he makes it. I love guys with his kind of story that have to work for their shot.

It’s not a make my blood boil discussion. It was a more I haven’t seen this considered, what do y’all think?

Dont take it personally. Most threads get completely derailed by the 6th or 7th post so its not worth looking that deep in to threads to see if what you are posting has been discussed. Usually just vitriol past that.

This forum is getting more and more difficult to talk football x's and o's or even team building strategy (which is what this is about), so I appreciate this discussion even if there have been several similar to it.

I think this might be the biggest decision that the team has had to make since I became a fan.

The biggest risk/reward is if they go with Allen and he plays good. The cap space we would have would really strengthen the whole team. The teams Super Bowl window is 'opening' for the next few years.

If they stick with Newton its a win now mode.

IF they go with Allen and he plays bad, and Cam go someplace else and returns to his old MVP ways... I dont even want to think of what would happen here.

You do realize that if you don't pay Cam you're going to pay someone else that right? You won't be able to use that money to sign anyone. Kyle Allen or whoever else will be asking for that money, or more. At best you're looking at keeping Kyle for a year on a very cheap contract, though that's if he plays poorly the rest of the season. If he plays very well, then why would he go into the next season with the Panthers without holding out?

The only scenario where the Panthers benefit cap wise by trading or cutting Cam is if they draft quarterback or roll with Grier. One way or another they're going to have to pay a quarterback this year, or next. You can't sign anyone to a large contract this off-season with a looming franchise quarterback contract on the horizon.

So you think a kid that is trying to make a name for himself is gonna sit out after 1 year in the league???

Thats the best one I have heard yet.

Yeah, because that's today's NFL. Why play a year, risking getting hurt, for less than veteran minimum?

I see what you’re saying. As I said earlier I understand, but then I look at the 6 fire Ron threads on the same page as my post trying to discuss cap; those same people who flamed me keeping their fire ron posts high. Notice it’s always the same 5 ppl, everyone else came on and was 100% rational. If there are 20 other should we spend this cap on bradberry and Shaq posts then I would really like to see them. Even if we felt Allen was not the guy and cam was too gone, we could fetch some ok picks from a Miami who has draft stock and would be able to field a young team around cam. I would not be opposed to front loading a lot of young guys like donte, Shaq, Bradberry, and CMC and trying to get in the conversation for the #1 pick. There is always a price if Tepper wants TL... Remember when The Clemson Texans came to Charlotte? More Clemson fans then Panther fans... you know how to build a fanbase in the Carolinas? Idk, tap into a huge alumni network. It is painfully obvious JR hated Clemson and wanted 0 Clemson players. The only way we will find if Kyle is the answer is to keep starting him. Give him this year and let’s see what happens, we make the playoffs, he gets another.

You forgot about the “you’re hugging Cam’s nuts”

or the “you’re hugging Kyle’s nuts”

this place reminds me more of a kindergarten class room than a place where adults have conversations about the Panthers

I watched every Ron loss for the past several years (condensed of course) the past few nights and noticed 1 thing. Every year Ron did not win at least 11 games, Cam was baldly hurt.  Cams arm was bad in 2017, but we found a way to go 11-6...Second Ron got a healthy QB this year we go 5-2. I feel like I’d like to see Ron with a qb who is not hurt every other year.

2014: ribs and back

2015: healthy

2016: Concussion (week 1, 4) arm injury

2017 arm lingering

2018: arm literally falls apart

2019: broken foot and arm issues 0-2. 100% healthy qb 5-2. I notice a pattern here.

Every clown that wants cam cut because of the salary cap hit ... seriously that is not going to get us anywhere . We are playing with what we would have now if we cut him and how are we going?

yeah we need to pay some players but we need our QB back not Kyle Allen and drafting some would be QB that we are going to have to wait 3 years for them to become established (if we are lucky )

cam is our future . He’s not that old

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
