Sure.  The run defense is lacking.  But this whole new narrative of the defense *completely* sucking is just disingenuous.  We can't decide if its because of the people on the field, or the coaching.

It depends on who we want to call for being fired in a particular conversation.  If we don't like Hurney, we say its because he ignored getting adequate run defenders, and only focused on quick/leaner pass rushers.

When its an anti-Rivera thread, its because of bad coaching.  Ignoring that we just complained about Rivera apparently not having the right people on the team to even defend the run.

We ignore the positives of the defense, act like they don't exist.  And its just insulting to anyone actually paying attention and trying to be fair.

LeFluer is half a season in and he's definitely better than Ron now, despite having the luxury of Aaron Rodgers?  And McDermott, whose crowing achievement is a 9-7 record?  Similarly, Reich hasn't done a damn thing yet Ron hasn't either.  So at most you have 10 and we'll see how Pederson fairs the next few seasons.  And they all just so happen to be starting or have started HOF QBs the majority of their career, and most importantly won't be available for hire.  So given that group, Ron is in the top 3rd of the league at absolute worse, i.e not "average"

Also the implication that since Ron should be fired, that 20+ of the league's coaches should be fired or are on pace to be fired in the next two seasons.  Very reasonable!

True, but honestly its become rare these days and based on this teams history specifically with defensive HCs its a change we need. Lets not forget Rivera was hired because he was a lot similar to john fox to begin with.

You really can't effectively judge Rivera without putting Cam into the equation. Until this season, that is. 

Right now, without Cam, we're 5-2 with losses to powerhouse teams in San Fran and Green Bay. San Fran was an old-fashioned ass kicking that teams take from time to time, but terribly embarassing. Green Bay was a much closer game, in bad conditions, than the score would say.

Let's ride out the season and see how things shake out. Judge the man on what he can do with a second-string 23-year old undrafted QB, massive injury issues on the O-line and quite a few injuries on the defense. That should be enough of a set of handicaps to give the coach, right? I mean, surely he can't produce a winning effort out of 14 games without Cam, right?
