Well he signed with us in April of 2018, went through training camp, got cut, got re-signed to the practice squad, promoted to the active roster in December, played in two games(1 start) but yeah...yeah, he's a rookie I guess. The Huddle rarely lets facts get in the way of a good narrative, after all.

Want to know how many reps a 4th string UDFA QB gets in training camp? Many days it is zero.

Technically he isn't a rookie. But as far as experience goes, yeah, he practically is.

Would you say his fumbling problem has gotten better or worse as the season has gone on?

considering he fumbled at a very critical moment yesterday it is hard to suggest it's gotten better.

i guess since he can now take a sack without coughing it up that is improvement

How long are we going to keep saying the fumbles are correctable? People who fumble the ball tend to always fumble the ball. A fumbling issue is not a correctable issue. Never has been. People who fumble in the pros, fumbled in college, they fumbled in high school, they fumbled in Pop Warner. That poo doesn’t get fixed. You fix it with a competitive offensive line, but if he gets hit there’s a chance that ball is coming out.

Yeah, I will give a classic example of that not being the case. Tiki Barber. And I do realize that is a different position but the fumbles can be corrected. It's about 70/30 OL being poo and Kyle needing better pocket awareness.

Is he still fumbling the ball? Do we say Jameis has improved on his interceptions if he has a game or two where he doesn’t throw one? I’m not here to bash Kyle, we just need to accept that this is going to be the reality with him.

How many fumbles did he have the first two games compared to his last two?

That logic doesn’t work here.

how many INTs did he have the first two games compared to the last two

It works fine.

He had a major issue his first two games. It was awful. Now it is much less of an issue. That indicates improvement to anyone without an agenda.

Tiki came into the league with minimal fumbles. Was a heavy fumbler in the middle of his career, and the numbers dropped off to resemble what they did at the start of his career. He was a fumbler and hard to argue that it improve. Inconsistent, but that’s not improvement.

So using your same logic he’s improved his fumbling and replaced them with interceptions?

Still has a lot of turnovers either way you slice it.

Sure, I can agree with that. Young QBs tend to throw picks. Part of the maturation process. Hopefully they trend downward as well.

Yeah and he also has a full year being with our team through training camp(twice), with our practice squad and playing in nine games(with 8 starts) across two seasons. So, no, he is not a rookie experiencing all this for the first time. He's not a rookie anymore than Aaron Rodgers was in 2008. Is he a young player that is still learning and improving every day? Absolutely. Has he been a professional football player with all that entails for about 18 months now? Yep.
