Kyle Allen's game is improving.

I think his arm is strong enough. Dude has been throwing out routes all season long and placing them on point. Those are some of the hardest throws for a QB to make and he's made them multiple times to multiple receivers all season long.

I agree. Those deep balls are more about timing than anything. He’s just a little late getting to those deep reads. I’d like to see a few plays where the deep ball is the primary option, not the 4th

If you’re late making a read, then you have to throw it harder to compensate for the timing instead of floating it out there

He isn't a rookie, he has been through two full training camps here and has started(and won) games both this year and last. "Should be a starter in this league?" Well......no poo, he's started in 7 straight games for us. He's proven he can be starter material, although I think he is very clearly a limited upside/game manager style QB. Still a long way to go as far as development, obviously. I'm super glad to have him after Cam went down.

But, we are also going to have to get much better as a team to win games against good opponents. Kyle isn't Cam. Kyle will probably never be able to put the team on his back and will it to victory. If we want to get into the playoffs, the entire team is going to have to play better in these critical games.

One thing that is for certain, above all else and something I have been SCREAMING for the past 3-4 years.....we MUST improve this OL. We cannot keep trotting out a unit that performs as poorly as they have. It may well end up resulting in our only franchise QB having a career shortened by injuries and it will inevitably result in our current or future QB's getting banged up.

He will probably be our starter till the new HC gets his guy, which I wouldn't assume is this offseason. I like what Allen has done but I don't think he has the physical skills yet. The throws that require more zip he just can't make, which sucks because he nails the throws that require touch but not zip. He has been improving but that still leaves him in the category of guys you dont want to sink big contracts into but love to play against.

So yeah, it kind of is his first year still.

He was cut by us Sept 1st. Went to another team. Was cut by them.... then signed by us.

I don't think he has the experience of most other young QBs that have been in the league / starting for 2 years though given he was waaay down the depth chart.

Well, those are some of the reasons why he was an undrafted free agent. His physical limitations were known. It doesn't mean he can't be successful in this league in the long term because QB's with below average arms have made long NFL careers in the past. As I said, he's a game managing QB. If we can build a good team around him, he can be very successful here. But I do agree about sinking a bunch of money into him long term. He's just not a guy I would pay at a higher than average pay scale.

How long are we going to keep saying the fumbles are correctable? People who fumble the ball tend to always fumble the ball. A fumbling issue is not a correctable issue. Never has been. People who fumble in the pros, fumbled in college, they fumbled in high school, they fumbled in Pop Warner. That poo doesn’t get fixed. You fix it with a competitive offensive line, but if he gets hit there’s a chance that ball is coming out.

Well he signed with us in April of 2018, went through training camp, got cut, got re-signed to the practice squad, promoted to the active roster in December, played in two games(1 start) but yeah...yeah, he's a rookie I guess. The Huddle rarely lets facts get in the way of a good narrative, after all.

Would you say his fumbling problem has gotten better or worse as the season has gone on?
