Ron Rivera... the defensive mastermind

Ron has a history of being a very good defensive coach, just look at what he’s done in the past. 
 

Which is why I don’t understand why his 2019 version sucks so badly at stopping the run. Makes me want to stick hot pokers in my eyeballs.

Have heard the excuse that the d-line is made up of a bunch of guys who are really good at rushing the passer but suck at stopping the run... is this a valid point?

this dude hasnt put out a great defense in 6 years. if you want to count 2015, then 4 years.

This dude has only had 2 top 10 defenses in 9 years (and only 1 top 5 defense). He's overrated.

His main thing is supposed to be defense, like that's why he gets paid and that's where we've invested a ton of draft capital and cap.  Imagine if Sean Payton had the reputation he did but the Saints hadn't had a top flight offense in four or five years.

Ugh. Ancient history at this point. Not winning games now. Defense sucks. That's on him.

3-8 likely to be 3-9 after this year.  Maybe not.  Maybe a 9-7 year can give us a 4-8 record with Rivera as coach.  We've had 3 winning season out of 8 with him.
