Cams future was in doubt before foot injury

Not exactly groundbreaking news. Of course there were concerns with the shoulder, it was the biggest story of the offseason. Obviously that became overshadowed by the preseason ankle injury. This needs to be a heavy learning lesson moving forward for all parties involved. It doesn't exactly instill confidence in the medical staff that suddenly Kyle Allen has a phantom shoulder injury now as well.

Yeah, the medical staff caused the injury, not football. The Panthers are the only team with injuries you know.

It sounds like Tepper wants to move on and draft a new QB sometime in the next few years. Not surprising.

Yeah it seems like he might want a full reset to remake it as “his” team. Have a couple years to get settled in as owner and evaluate then get rid of Marty, Ron and Cam all at once.

Honestly if Tepper plans to keep Rivera, then he should find a way to get some value for Cam. They just really don't work together. Rivera is much too conservative in his approach to offense and game management for a Cam Newton. That's not a knock on Rivera. It could work, but not with Cam. Kyle, the game manager, is more of what Rivera needs to run his offense the way he wants.

So much for not having a meddling owner this time.....

Based on everything I read about him before he bought the Panthers, I expected he was going to be at least somewhat "hands on" once he started to take more control.

It's been reported that he's now transitioning away from the hedge fund stuff to being a full-time NFL owner, so it's generally expected he'll have more influence on the football side in the years to come.
