Took a loan from a family friend but paid it back last year

Nothing to see here.

NCAA is just dumb

The league, big biz and to an extent the Universities themselves have profited off these athletes.

I do not want to even hear about athletes and free tuition. These kids are risking their bodies and may never make it to the big time. Are the kids getting free meals, free boarding, free college books, gas, etc? Many of these kids do not have enough time to work with training and classes.

Possible #1 pick in the NBA is ruled ineligible for getting $$ from Hardaway...

If Wiseman wanted a house, then he should of went to dook and asked for the Zion special. They would have hooked him up with a house in Colvard Farms and put his siblings in private school. Memphis doesn’t have the clout to cheat like duke.

Loan huh?

A tOSU booster or Agent middle man floated him money; when he got caught they said it was a loan. That is what happened with Greg Little and Robert Quinn at UNC. There were “runners” for NFL agents that were floating players money in an effort to sway them towards agents and financial people when they got to the league. I’m sure it’s the same thing going on here.

NCAA is unpredictable but they just whacked a kid today who is the projected #1 NBA pick that they surely could have exploited and made money off of.

To answer the original question, if he were to drop out of college now he could not become a free agent.  Players have to be 3 full years out of high school and have used up his college eligibility, I think he is a JR in college right now.  You could go to Canada for 3 years and play and then go in the NFL, but  no one does that and I don't know what the rules are for the CFL.  You can look up all the rules

Quote

Feldman reports that Young's eligibility concerns stem from a loan the defensive end accepted from a family friend in order to fund his girlfriend's trip to Ohio State's Rose Bowl matchup against the Washington Huskies last December.

"I'm told (Young) paid that money back in April. Sources say that the friend who loaned him the money in question is not an agent, is not a booster," Feldman said, "and that is a significant detail as the NCAA begins to try and sort all this out."
