Joey Slye is tied for 26th in FG percentage this year

Since Gano's 2013 season which was very good but also a statistical anomaly, Gano is 41/45 from inside 40, 49/58 from 40-49, 9/18 from 50+ (has only attempted 5 in the last 2 years) and 148/160 on XPs (since 2015 rule change).

Slye so far is 6/6 from inside 40, 5/8 from 40-49, 4/7 from 50+ and 20/22 on XPs.

Ignoring the blocking breakdowns skewing the significantly smaller sample size, you are currently getting similar production at a fraction of the cost. The general rule of thumb for kickers is that unless you have the one of the best or one of the worst there is hardly a measurable change in production.

He's 15/21 for a percentage of 71%. 20/22 on extra points.

Gano, the guy that was getting death threats the past few years, was 14/16 on field goals last year for a percentage of 88% and 13th in the league.

Remind me why we all hate Gano yet worship Slye again?

EDIT: Slye has missed twice as many field goals this year as Gano missed in 2017 and 2018...combined.

money.  gano is not meeting the expectations of his paycheck.

Kickers suck man. They don't deserve any money.

Gano was the NFL's leader in FG misses his first two seasons starting for the Redskins.

24/35 and then proceeded to be 31/41.  He was also despised by Skins fans for this and was also the reason so many were uncertain when we signed him.  Figured it to just be another Mare situation.

Don't write this kid off.

Yes, I expect a veteran that is paid a top tier salary to perform like a top tier player.  If you can get the same production out of a player that is on a rookie deal, I'm not sure why you'd keep paying the veteran that is clearly under performing his contract.

Slye is not even remotely close to performing at the same lever Gano has the last 2 seasons.
