First: Gano kicked plenty of long FGs.

Second: Butker was not the answer. He has missed his share, particularly during crunch time. He was a key reason KC was booted out the playoffs last season.

Please explain how he cost KC an overtime loss to NE in last year’s AFC championship? He sure wasn’t missing 25 yarders in a dome.

You didn't mention Gano's XP percentage.  I was curious to know Gano vs Slye total kick percentage (XPM + FGM / XPA + FGA).

Yes, I probably just made that stat up.

I looked up the numbers

Gano

2017 29-30 FG and 34-37 XP = 63/67 = 94.02%

2018 14-16 FG and 30-33 XP = 44/49 =  89.8%

Total 107/116 = 92.24%

Slye

2019 15-21 FG and 20-22 XP = 35-43 = 81.4%

Honestly, I didn't remember the missed XPs this year as well as I did the ones last year as I think they impacted at least the Lions game if not one other heavily so I remembered them.  Nonetheless, these numbers also favor Gano.

I actually like Gano but I think Butker and Slye were/are better options due to cost. Sure Gano may be slightly better but not worth $4M more. Either way I think Gano is done, pretty serious injuries...

Gano’s missed XPs directly impacted outcomes. Slye’s (1 blocked) have not.

He's 15/21 for a percentage of 71%. 20/22 on extra points.

Gano, the guy that was getting death threats the past few years, was 14/16 on field goals last year for a percentage of 88% and 13th in the league.

Remind me why we all hate Gano yet worship Slye again?

EDIT: Slye has missed twice as many field goals this year as Gano missed in 2017 and 2018...combined.

Never understood the Gano hate.

He’s shanked a couple in tight games but he’s also nailed boomers to win us games.

You're read on the kicker situation is so terribly wrong. Putting aside that the distribution of kicks related to distance affects rate, no one even loves Slye. He's filled in when our kicker making lots of money went on IR. I've disliked Gano because of the GM decision to extend him when we had a great kicker on a rookie pay scale.

poo thread.
