I guess. Didnt know they booed Schmidt. When was this?

Schmidt was often criticized in Philadelphia newspapers and by fans for being too sensitive or for not trying hard enough. He was just as likely to be booed by Phillies fans as he was to be cheered. He stopped inviting his family to

home games because people in the crowd would yell at them. Schmidt endured the criticism quietly by focusing on his game throughout his career. He told Fitzpatrick about the moment when he finally felt reconciled with Phillies fans, "It was a night at the end of '86, when I passed Lou Gehrig, who had 494 homers, and was getting close to 500. I got a great ovation, and there was something about that night that got me over the hump."

Name me a white qb who is universally loved by his home town fan base..

Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Ben Roethlisberger. There are definitely ones who take heat & criticism and its because they suck, but the guys who put up wins and or big stats get blown hard. They get the messiah treatment. I promise you if Drew Brees ends up taking the Saints to 5 NFC championships he will be annointed 1 of the greatest QBs to ever play the game.

The football field is sacred. Fans don't like players who puke on it.

Rockets who was the Eagles starting QB prior to McNabb?

I swear man I dont understand yall Eagles fans. Saints fans swear Drew Brees is god although he's only had 1 playoff run with them and aint never been to a Super Bowl. Chargers fans defend Rivers tooth & nail even when he loses in the playoffs. Falcons fans still believe in Matty Ice despite his slump. Bengals fans dont sit around waiting for Palmer to fug up. Hell even Panther fans stood behind Jake despite his shortcomings for years. I just dont understand the half hearted support behind McNabb. Why doesnt the best QB your franchise has ever had get that undying love that those other less accomplished QBs get?

The last one of any relavance was Cunningham. Not sure what you are getting at with that question though.

I like McNabb, but I am a fan of the Eagles first and I don't follow one player with blind allegance. I like him when he plays well, and when he doesn't play well I don't like him so much. I don't see a problem with that. I watch every Eagles game, you watch McNabb highlights on ESPN. There is a difference.

I don't see a need to defend him, I still believe in him, and I certainly don't wait for him to F* up to bash him. Now other Eagles fans, yeah some do. One thing I can tell you is that a lot more Eagles fans dislike Andy Reid than they do Mcnabb and given the choice Andy would be gone long before McNabb.

I don't know about this JR. There are a lot of people up here calling for McNabb to get benched and Kolb to start.

Typical ebb and flow of the Philliy fanbase. That doesn't surprise me now. I stopped listening to Philly sports radio ofter the World Series. Everyone knows Reid is there to stay and not going anywhere and will be around to watch his boy Kolb grow into who knows what, and McNabb is nearing the end of his stay. To be calling for McNabb to be benched right now is stupid IMO. We should live or die with him this year. Kolb will get his chance, but that chance shouldn't be now.

What is your opinion?

my opinion is the whole reid/mcnabb era is tired and there needs to be a change. i would rather have mcnabb playing under a new coach in a new system but that is not going to happen. reid is gonna be the coach next year and this offseason they will trade mcnabb to whoever (i would LOVE to see him in Denver) and Kolb is the guy.

I thought about Denver also......wonder if Spags would be interested in St. Louis? I would hate for him to go to a "rebuilding" team and that really wouldn't make much sense but who knows. They do need QB help. Actually I don't even know what offense the Rams run or who they have that we could use.

They have been saying McNabb is going to be traded in the off season for a couple of years now. It makes more sense this year than before but I will believe it when I see it.

I just hope Kolb is as good as people hope he is.......

It is typical...before Kolb had a couple good games for and injured McNabb this year he was the worst backup QB based on that performance (or lack of) in against Baltimore last year. Now he is the second coming of Montana. I did like what I saw early in the year though.

Carolina would be more than happy to take Mcnabb off your hands.

I understand the frustrations with being a seemingly stagnant team. But seriously, I'm just sayin Philly fans... be careful for what you wish for.

For what it's worth, I don't believe this team would be better off with Kolb, but who knows.

Edit: PS. I agree with Kevin Greene in that we will gladly take the Don off your hands.

I know I'm late here but I think this is dead wrong. McNabb's accuracy sucks on those short passes, not leading WRs, throwing at their feet, over their heads, etc. His deep ball is one of the best in the league.

I cannot wait for the day McNabb is out of Philadelphia and he is tearing the league up in some other offense.

You have your opinions, I have mine.

I just don't think that McNabb is all that accurate, on many throws, much less the deep ball. Chunking it as hard as you can, and having Desean Jackson run and go get it, is not the same as having deep ball accuracy...JMO.

BTW, I am not bashing McNabb at all, just observing.

How bout Don McNabb's 4th quarter comeback today? Trailing for most of the game, Don orchestrated the game winning drive to set up Akers FG that made it 27-24 with 1:48 left in the 4th quarter. The start was the 137th of Don's career, tying him with Ron Jaworski for most all time in Eagles history. 21-35, 260 yards, 1 TD, 1 pick, 80.7 QB rating for #5 in today's divisional victory.

Eagles rolled all over ATL today. Don McNabb finished 14-25, 238 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 101.8 QB rating.

As for Michael Vick....

ATLANTA (AP)—Michael Vick’s(notes) fans wearing his No. 7 jersey were outnumbered by those who welcomed the former Falcons quarterback with boos for the start of his return to Atlanta on Sunday.

But Vick won over the crowd by running and passing for touchdowns in the second half.

In the fourth quarter, fans chanted “We want Vick! We want Vick!”

Vick’s return to Atlanta was much-anticipated by his fans. Many wore Vick’s No. 7 Falcons jersey.

Raymon Thomas of Atlanta said he had not forgotten the excitement Vick, the three-time Pro Bowler, brought to the franchise.

“Without Michael Vick, none of this would be going on right here,” said Thomas, who wore a Falcons No. 7 jersey with “Atlanta” instead of “Vick” on the back.

“He’s the one who created all this stuff at the Georgia Dome,” Thomas said. “Before Vick came, the Georgia Dome had none of this. He electrified the fans and the city of Atlanta.

“You can’t let one mistake control a person’s life for the rest of their life. God forgave us and we’re supposed to be able to forgive our fellow man.”

Vick finished 2-2 48 yards passing and 4 rushes for 17 yards. His 2 TDs were more points than the entire Falcons squad in his return to the GA Dome.
