Cam will retire

If Cam does retire a whole bunch of nut huggers are going to have to proffer up an apology to one Andrew Luck.

EDIT:  My official position is he will be back in a Panthers uniform next season.

(assumes the foot, shoulder & noggin all get back up to speed before the trade/cut deadline)

The penalty might be you get your butt whupped or they introduce you to their two friends, Smith and Wesson. Crazy threatening someone you don't know anything about. When folks fight there aren't winners just losers and bigger losers. And all this over a message board post. How middle school.

Who did I threaten? I was just commenting on another persons post.  And to clarify, if I intend to punch anyone in the face there won’t be any warning. I’m too old to try and be tough guy and invite a fight, I’m gonna take that ass out with as little effort as possible.

@mjligon pointed this out in another thread and it made a helluva lot of sense to me. Cam went to Green Bay on his own dime to get a second opinion on his foot. None of us is inside Cam's head or close personal friends with him (at least I don't think so) but he pointed out that that action does not suggest someone thinking about walking away from the game, it suggests someone doing everything he can to get back on the field.

Not saying that walking away for a player with Cam's injury history, age and already banked earnings wouldn't be a perfectly reasonable course of action, but this one piece of circumstantial evidence seems to argue pretty strongly against the idea.

We don’t know the outcome of his meeting with the doctor. He could’ve had every intention of continuing his career when he decided to go see the specialist, but what if he received some troubling news about the severity of his injury? It’s pretty telling that pretty much immediately after the visit with the specialist, he gets put on IR. Maybe the injury was worse than anyone initially thought and there could be long term health implications at play...or at least bad enough news to make him re-evaluate things.

I’m not saying by any means that that’s what I think happened...just saying, the results of that doctor’s visit and the prognosis of his injury could certainly have their own set of implications on Cam’s desire and willingness to continue playing.

All entirely possible. I’m starting to think it’s easier to understand quantum theory than figure out what’s really going on with an NFL team.

As was I commenting that the societal consequences may not be the imminent consequences you could face going up to a relative stranger and punching them without any physical provocation. Seems to me you might want to know what they know or what they might have as an equalizer before you naively assume you can assault someone without them putting up a vigorous defense. And again all this over the highly provocative words.... Answer the question....  Highly charged wouldn't you say....

Based off of his tweet to the fans I don’t think he’s retiring. That is unless his foot doesn’t heel over the next 3 to 6 months.

That tweet kinda sounded like maybe it was a response to someone questioning his ability and/or commitment to getting 100% healthy.

He can simply tell any team willing to trade for him that he's not willing to play for them and that he'll either hold out or retire.

Exactly. He will be traded where he wants or released.

hes not going to a rebuild or perennial loser.

my vote is the Steelers if I were him. Long shot of course but they are perfect for Cam. Ben is 37, but he’s not Tom Brady and is about done.

    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
    • I would say maybe 8 in a tier by themselves and all but 2 where picked in the top of the first allen pat m stroud burrow jackson hurts (maybe) Herbert Stafford
