That right there is so true.  Some people need a punch right in the noggin and there should be no penalty for it.

I don't think punching people in the face is what's needed, but I have little doubt that people in general behave on the internet in much more obnoxious and anti social ways than they would or do irl because they do not have to risk physical confrontation or even looking someone in the eye when they hurl pointless insults. Our interactions rapidly become more caustic because there is little to no social penalty when they do.

Think about it this way: how many times have you ever gotten into a conversation in a sports bar that became as vitriolic as many if not most message boards discussions tend to become? Maybe once or twice in your whole life on average, if at all?

Fair take for sure.  When I lived in DC I got into a few heated arguments with Skins fans that could have ended terribly if I hadn’t walked away, but in the 17 years I’ve lived in NMB not once have I.

Yeah I've gotten heated maybe once or twice irl, but you have to really get pushed or just be in a bad mood or on edge or off your meds or something, to get you to that point irl because the social consequences even just in looks from total strangers and the negative subtle social feedback you receive from creating a scene in public are for the vast majority of us a pretty strong deterent whether we really want to admit it or not.

On the internet all of that just goes away, and the worst that happens the vast majority of the time is you get a warning from a mod to tone it down or poo emojis and negative posts from others. These things just don't have the impact on our behavior that the real world consequences do, and that emboldens us all to behave like 12 year old nincompoops far too easily.

There should be a YouTube channel for the Huddle.

all people have to do is say what they say now and the whole board would be rich.

Just call the show The Land of the Ridiculous.

Sure. I'm wrong occasionally. At least one of us is man enough to actually admit that.

I don't care if the specific scenario has happened or not. It's absolutely a viable possibility. My initial premise wasn't based on any precedents.

People act like you because the penalty for punching people in the face in our society is far too high.

You were doing well until the end. People act like you threatening folks over the internet because they don't have the guts to do it in person.

There are no guarantees that foot will ever be the same.  Anyone that says different is fos.

There’s also no guarantee he doesn’t which is how most here sound.

which is what they want.

for me it’s simple. The easiest is that Cam comes back strong so we can use our draft and FA on making the team better— and Cams got the X Factor.

kyle Allen is a serviceable quarterback— but until he demonstrates he can beat a prime time team in prime time for a come back win he is what he is— serviceable.

that means we have to draft someone and hope they are Patrick Mahomes and not Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold or Blain Gabbert or a host of others.

so Cam back healthy playing like Brett Favre with that passionate attitude that fixed guys like Ted Ginn and Michael Oher needs to come back.

maybe he does and maybe he doesn’t.

The penalty might be you get your butt whupped or they introduce you to their two friends, Smith and Wesson. Crazy threatening someone you don't know anything about. When folks fight there aren't winners just losers and bigger losers. And all this over a message board post. How middle school.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
