If Cam Newton is not on the roster in 2020, would you still be a Panthers fan?

I became a Panthers fan when we moved to the Carolinas in 2006.  When we moved to New Mexico in 2016, I remained a Panther fan.  In the years since 2006, they have done things that tested my loyalty.  Watching Fox flounder around in his last year didn't cause me to move on.  Losing most of my interest in the NFL in general hasn't caused me to move on, and it has made me more of a Panther fan than an NFL fan.  If those things didn't do it, moving on from Cam won't either, even though I've enjoyed watching his time here.

If they move out of the area, that would do it.....unless they moved to Albuquerque.

If you were a panther fan, you were one of those Asian woman folding fans, not a strong box window fan.  You were made of paper and you fold to get strength--you have no metal blades and power levels--you are a fart spreader, not a climate changer.  That is all I have to say about that.

I understood all of the words you used, but not what it meant when you used them in that order.

Intriguing. So you’re neither from here nor currently live here, yet you would lose interest if the team relocated, unless it happened to relocate to you. That’s pleasantly surprising.

Agree that if Fox’s last year didn’t chase you off, not much would. That year was awful.

It's not. Here's a quote from Jourdan Rodrigue with the Athletic speaking on the subject.

Guess it's not just me who notices.

Not too sure why she is making that point in the context of Tepper. The games are all sold out. He is getting the same revenue whether there are 70 or 70,000 that actually show up. I guess there is a decent loss in concessions but not that's definitely not make or break.

Also she has only been on the Panthers beat for like 3 years. She is hardly an expert. A large portion of fans that go to the games have always been visiting fans. This year we have played the Titans, Bucs, Rams and Jags at home. Those are 4 of the smallest fan bases in the NFL. It really hasn't been much different from past years when you add in that context. Butts in seats have always been scarce against the small market teams(I know LA isn't a small market but they have a very small fan base at the moment) and we have played them 4 out of 4 now. It doesn't figure to get much better either. With a Redskins team literally no one wants to watch, the dreadful Falcons and the Seahawks who don't travel well left to play at home. Saints in week 17 if we are out of the playoffs would also be lowly attended.

Definitely. I regularly checked out Ravens games whenever I could to see how Smitty was doing, Chargers with TD and wherever Cam goes if he’s not here.

NFL is a business at the end of it all, doesn’t mean I have to denounce my fanhood to follow my favorite players.

Since my question regarding the first 2 games has been ignored twice here are the attendence numbers by week.

Each game at home without Newton has had higher attendance than the first two with Newton. I figured some numbers would be pertinent.

The Panthers only report tickets distributed as attendance so those numbers are largely irrelevant to the topic of the number of people in the stadium. Whether or not a few hundred more people bought the extremely limited single game ticket inventory doesn't matter.

I'm not sure I can pinpoint why, either.

The teams who have the biggest following here are, in order, Dallas, Denver, and Arizona.  Like everywhere, I see some Raiders garb but not a lot.  Trees will tap dance before I become a Cowboys fan, and Denver or Arizona don't get any feelings from me one way or another.

Ironically, I grew up in St. Louis when the Cardinals were there, and I lived in Phoenix for a year after their move there.  I was a season ticket holder in St. Louis for five years, so I should have some allegiance to them, but I don't.

It may have to do with a waning interest in the NFL.  I used to watch any game I could.  Now, I rarely watch much of any game that does not involve the Panthers.
