Likely won't see Cam in a Panthers uni again

This is still a what have you done for me recently leauge. Even if Ron and Co come back next season no garuntee they're gonna bank their jobs on a 20m dollar QB with Durability concerns.

If this is the last we see of Cam in a Panthers uni, thank you so much for everything Cam. Always be my favorite Panther (next to Smitty)

Its not exactly smart to bank on a undrafted QB with no real proven track record and limitations either. Both sides of the coin are concerning.

Bottom line is your not winning a superbowl with kyle allen at qb and Ron rivera at head coach.

Even if Kyle finishes strong, think there's a chance we go QB early?

I actually like Eason quite a bit as a devolpmental QB for a season or so behind Kyle or a vet.

Man I don't know.

All I can tell you is that there is a bunch of stuff going on and it's not just a decision about his foot.

Doesn't have anything to do with Kyle or Will.

Has everything to do with Cam and his future.

Are you saying

1. He’s going to retire and do big things outside of football?

2. He’s burned bridges or worn out his welcome with Tepper here?

BTW, Newton has one year remaining on his contract. If the Panthers trade or release him after this year they get a cap savings of $19.1 million. So a lot of decisions to be made

We got Luke, Bradberry and Shaq coming up. Plus the he monster that will be CMC down the road.

Doesn't it still depend on how Kyle finishes the year? Or would they go QB in the draft?

I believe we just drafted a qb that our gm thinks was better than murray, but fug will grier right? Grier is in the perfect position right now

It's probable that you look at Kyle as a rookie 1st round draft pick QB who just played his first  year. You move forward and hope to see growth in his game, all without ever having to expend a draft pick on him, which is a huuuuge benefit.

Of course, smart long term play says we stay with Cam and his contract to see how he heals up and performs next season (or pre-season) at the least. If Cam can recover, he's good money and there's time to negotiate the next contract, or franchise tag after next season if we choose.

This situation is no worse than it was at the end of Week 2, and truthfully it is better than we could have imagined at that time.

The sky ain't falling.

I love what Kyle is doing but he's still a young developing QB. Just look at the "Jackson 4", Baker, Darnold, Rosen and J. Allen. They are still struggling and going through growing pains. It can't hurt to have Cam on a prove it deal and give him a shot to earn an extension.

Moving on from Cam makes too much sense honestly. Cam costs a lot of money for a guy that will have now missed an entire 16 game season due to injury over the last two seasons. There are serious doubts about his shoulder holding up over a full season, and now add on the foot injury that is known to take years to heal.

The money they save moving on from Cam opens up a ton of space to re-sign key players that are young and healthy.

Kyle Allen has obviously shown promise. Grier still hasn't seen the field and could have potential.

And from Hurney and Rivera's point of view, it likely saves their jobs. Tepper would probably be way more likely to keep Rivera around if he shows he can win without Cam this season.

If you don’t think people within the organization have already made a decision on this I don’t know what to tell you. They planned this out last offseason and the events that have happened this year made it a much easier decision.

Ahh good to know you have a line straight to Tepper. Oh wait you don’t? Every team has backup plans in place but let’s not act like the team has already moved on fuging poo you kids are insane. He was playing his best football last year up until he got hurt.
