Likely won't see Cam in a Panthers uni again

Difference being Cam was a 3rd year starter by then making the same mistakes and not improving.

Kyle is a 1st year starter and sure go back and look.  You wont find me criticizing Cam his first year either.

Two surgeries in two years.  It’s the truth.  By the way Allen is making game winning drives at the end of many games, just need that 1 last yard.

It's absolutely a distinct possibility.

Now where we do we go from here?

I know one thing. With news like this, this adds more pressure to everyone. The excuses for losing are gone. It's produce and win or next man up. Plain and simple.

wasn't it always that way? I'm sure if Luke or CMC had possible career ending injuries you would feel the same way.

The only way Cam leaves is if Cam wants to leave...and you can follow him there.

Cam’s jersey is at clearance prices at the stadium, I don’t think he’s coming back.

Yeah before GB game they had his jerseys at Academy for $25 bucks a piece. They was beside CMC full price jersey. I think that tells u all u need to know.

anybody who didn't hope allen is a franchise qb was just butt hurt about cam.  it was against all odds and would have been the best thing that happened to this franchise since cam.   hard for me to understand why anyone wouldn't hope for that.   i guess i get it because i look at grier and i'm like 'he sucks' and i can't say that for sure but its how i feel.  ok, nevermind, i get it.

In my mind, Allen's showing ain't got anything to do with Cam's status at this point. I don't see why y'all keep bringing up Allen. He's not the future--short term or long term--for an owner that's looking to field a legit winner. He's not a franchise QB.

Cam's status is really dependent upon his health.

There are a lot of factors that go into the Cam decision, (salary cap, medical concerns, performance evaluations, system, etc.  but here is what we know:

1. Cam is a running qb by trade and is 30.

2.  Tepper made billions analyzing extreme risk and investing in promise.

3. If you make excuses for Cam but judge Kyle Allen behind that awful OL, you are probably not being objective. You are probably a hugger.

4.  If you bash what Cam has done for this franchise and want him out while praising Allen, you are a hater.

Personally,  I love what Cam brought to the franchise--a face, a swag, and an audience. He was superman and his dabbing swept across the nation like wildfire. We finally had  fans loving or hating the Panthers--not indifferent about them--that is insulting.

He also brought inconsistency in his play and his leadership.  He never developed into that kind of QB who  who could play until age 35-40.  He was instinctive, and a great athlete relies on what made him great---you cannot fault him for that when he was not given the weapons he needed at WR or the protection he needed at T.  That was on RR and MH.

So I suggest that you let the hedge fund manager analyze risk vs reward and invest what he thinks is going to be the right choice for the Panthers moving forward.  Be loyal to the team, not the player, and you will get what is best for the Carolina Panthers, not merely one person.

I'd add his contract into that.

If he doesn't want to play without an extension and the team refuses to give him one, it's likely he ends up elsewhere.

More than one person has pointed out that this is one of those cases where both sides have legitimate points. Those tend to be tough to resolve.

Mr. Scot. I always like hearing your takes. I understand both sides. If I am Cam, I am not going to play on a on year deal and as a front office/owner, I am not just going to extend a player not knowing what the future holds. This offseason is going to be very interesting. I think Tepper is about to shake everything up

Been a Hornets/Panthers fan since I was a kid and it will stay that way no matter how many Cam fan zingers shitposters like you litter here.

About Cam's contract:

$21m for the 2020 season is a good deal when you consider how much other QBs are making.  The risk is not about $$, it is about paying a man $21m to be injured or rehabbing.  Even if healthy, is Cam worth $21m if we are not winning?  Since 2015, the Panthers are 23-26 with Cam starting.  Those were Cam's prime years.

So what happened to Cam?  The beating he took started taking its toll.  This segment explains it pretty well:

I've never hated against Cam. you know that, but you can google it, I'm sure...preacher. A Panther is a Panther, until he is not. Ron is not, Cam is....and will we really find a better QB than Cam now, right now?

you can race bait all you want, but nobody is falling for your love affair anymore.

Yeah. Unfortunately, that arguably makes it likely that it won't get resolved.

Somebody's gonna have to back down for that to happen, and both sides have pretty good arguments why they shouldn't.
