Say what now?  So We blaming ginns dropsies on cam being inaccurate? This place really has lost it. For the record Ginn dropped plenty of these while he was here in STRIDE.

No. That’s not a fair reading of what I said. I don’t know if you misunderstood or are willfully twisting to attempt avoiding acknowledging the underlying point.

To clarify: what I am saying is that accuracy has always been the biggest weakness in Cam’s game. Ginn dropped his fair share of catchable balls but there were also a number of throws where Cam was just off on the throw. His inaccuracy has often left receivers having to catch balls thrown behind or above them, forcing them to slow down or jump for the catch, the resulting loss of momentum reduces the opportunity for YAC.

Cam’s career completion percentage is below average compared to other qb’s of his stature. Beyond that, anyone watching his games regularly and being fair minded should be able to acknowledge that while his receivers have not always been impressive, he has also regularly struggled with his ball placement and accuracy. These things are not secrets or new info, so I’m not sure why you seem to be feigning shock at such notions.

If you feel differently then we just fundamentally have differing opinions on his performance as a passer. That’s okay, but it doesn’t make anyone a racist or worthy of scorn or insult, it’s a just difference of opinion.

Mark my words, if we hadn Kyle the job and move on from Cam, we will be looking for a new QB in another 2-3 years.

If Cam is healthy, and stays healthy, he has another 5-10 years of high-level football left.  Kyle is a very, very short-term solution.

Moving on from Newton doesn't necessarily mean handing the job to Allen.

That's only one option.

True, but it seems like the option the franchise would be electing for, if we do indeed move on from Cam after this season.

Unless Grier grows leaps and bounds in a year, because the other option is picking another guy in the late teens-twenties.

Allen becoming the best he can be is the most beneficial scenario for the team.

Grier proving to be starter worthy is arguably equal, or at the very least second best.

If neither of those things happens, then you've gotta start from scratch with a new guy. That's doable, but it's harder.

don't totally disagree with that.  But would need to reel that in some.  Cam Newton is 30.  He isn't going to be playing at 40 let alone at a high level at 40.   He doesn't play the type of football that would allow that.

I'm thinking that after healing from this injury, he would start to change his game to allow for more longevity...  I always thought Cam would follow a similar path in terms of play style as Randall Cunningham did.  Both were freakish athletes, but as Randall got older, he became a fantastic pocket passer.  The whole premise though relies on Cam being healthy in order to do so.  And IIRC, Randall played into his late 30s, almost 40.

Wasn't Norv Turner already trying to do that though?

My concern would be that they might have started on that project a little too late.

That's incredibly optimistic. As much as I hope you're right, my go-to evaluation for future situations is 'what's most likely to happen." Cam playing 5-10 more years of high-level football isn't it.

    • Well unfortunately nothing to us. But he has been giving to the rest of the league. He's been so bad he was getting opposing defenders all kinds of accolades and salary increases. Now though he's taking back. You can't lose to a Bryce Young led offense and not expect swift ramifications ya know?
    • Full disclosure I responded to this before fully reading the whole post. As if I had, I’d have laughed at you saying you haven’t seen a full route tree from him, as that’s EXACTLY what he has in his bag.  That right there just shows you haven’t watched him at all outside of the downfield highlight reel plays.  He already runs a full NFL level route tree, at all 3 levels.  As I’ve said numerous times before, XL is the big bodied possession guy, while T-Mac would be the true outside #1 who can do it all and a perfect compliment to XL.   Want to draft someone else all you want, that’s totally fair.  But don’t try and say he’s just a big bodied WR who lacks quickness and can’t run a full route tree, as it’s just the furthest thing from the truth.
    • My perfect offseason at QB would be trade Bryce, sign Lock (experience with Canales) and draft Ewers in the second or late in the first
