How many times have we seen people proclaim that we'd regret not going after Josh Gordon only to have that followed up by his being suspended again?

You can't look solely at the on-field side of it. Sure, you can say "oh he's learned his lesson now and that won't happen again". Yeah, there was somebody saying that every time he got suspended before. and somebody said the same thing about Justin Blackmon, Titus Young, and numerous others.

Those conversations always involved giving something up like picks. And I was one of them. I don’t know if he’s learned anything.

Now, he’s week to week. There is no risk. He does anything and......bye.....next.

Completely different situations.

Every team in the league knows that.

They still didn't want him.

That doesn't say "red flag" to you?

Why sign the guy being benched by a playoff contender team that desperately needs WRs.

Good question.

Maybe looking slow on the field, being a locker room issue, having the same skill set as DJ Moore/Samuel..

While Moncrief at least brings something different to the table (height), now that he is over his finger injury, while having familiarity with the Panthers WR coach.

As opposed to the player benched/cut by a below average team? Sure.....that makes sense.

And N’keal Henry just came back. They want him playing the majority of the snaps.

Do you even know who Gordon and Moncrief are? Because comparing Gordon’s skill set to DJ/CS is laughable. Gordon is taller than Moncrief but somehow Moncrief is better here. Gordon’s skill set is exactly what this team needs. It’s the rest of him that’s the issue.

Dropping more passes than you catch. That’s not a red flag to you?  Of course Gordon has red flags. But the point is....

What part of “no risk” is not getting through here. What does it cost us if we sign Gordon and he’s suspended? Nothing more than Moncrief. Who has shown he lacks where it actually matters.

Not sure where you got the idea that I'm a fan of Moncrief. I'm not. My guess with regard to his role is that, as has been suggested, he's only here until Chris Hogan comes back.

As far as the risk, it's an easy thing to say there isn't any when it's not your money. Maybe we think giving up $50,000 for a football team is no big deal, but it's wise to remember that our billionaire owner used to get pissed off that his office was spending too much money on coffee filters.

It's also not your job on the line. And again, nobody likes having bad decisions on their resume'.

And again, as has been discussed elsewhere, when a team like the Patriots determines that you're not worth having, it makes me wonder if they know something that we don't.

Ultimately, Gordon will succeed or he won't. Till then, it's all hypothetical.

we just need him to be better than Wright.  I believed in him so much, but something's not working.

Wright was actually pretty good last year.

But again, determining how good somebody is now is relatively easy compared to trying to predict how long they're going to be good.

The proverbial wall is invisible, and nobody sees it coming before they hit it.

And we want DJ Moore and Samuel playing the majority of the snaps.  Not a 1/2 year rental.

What is Gordon's skill set?  Slow injured receiver that doesn't seem to put effort into his practice?  What exactly is his skill set that we need that wouldn't take away from what we have?

Moncrief would be WR3 or 4 depth.

Gordon wouldn't.  H'e be a headcase that would take away from the team rather than add.

And Moncrief had 700 yards on 45ish carches last year.  Against competition that makes the CFL look like the minor league system it is.

I'd rather give him the chance.

On 89 targets I’d hope he’d catch at least 45 (48 actually).  I’m no Zylstra fan, but I don’t see how Moncrief is an upgrade over him. I also don’t see Moncrief putting up almost 1700 yards in the minor league CFL.
